Proposed deletion of Gibraltar Premier Division Transfers 2016-17

edit

The article Gibraltar Premier Division Transfers 2016-17 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:ROUTINE coverage of sports teams transactions. Not the basis for an article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Since Gibraltar's inclusion in UEFA in 2013 and later FIFA 2016, the overall interest in Gibraltar football and it's domestic league has increased over the years. As a member of the Gibraltar football community I feel extra detail on the movements of players in the Gibraltar Premier Division is of particular relevance for many. Especially as I work as a researcher for the popular football management game, Football Manager, they request this sort of information for their database which is not regularly available in a consolidated page online, hence not making this a routine page as Gibraltar football in the global world of football is particular minute. Other sources such as the UEFA.com annual football yearbook are also keen users of this sort of information.GibFootballTalk (talk) 10:30, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Response to Proposed deletion of Gibraltar Premier Division Transfers 2016-17

edit

Not sure how to respond to a deletion request, but this information is factual and required to consolidate all the movement in the Gibraltar league. This information is required to be consolidated in an easy to find page and will be of general interest to football supporters. There are similar pages like this on wikipedia such us https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_transfers_summer_2016 and therefore I believe this page should remain. GibFootballTalk (talk) 08:28, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

The best thing to do is respond on the talk page of the article. I would be careful in arguing "there are other similar pages"; other things exist, and each page is judged on its own merits. The concern given on the article seems to be that the information is routine coverage. You can also post on the talk page of whomever posted the PROD tag to ask them directly. You are permitted to remove a PROD tag from an article if you disagree, though that does not prevent a full deletion discussion.
I would urge you to review my post above regarding your username, as you will likely be asked to change it. 331dot (talk) 09:51, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the prod template message you added to this page, as it is meant to be posted by the person posting a PROD and not the creator of the page. Just FYI. 331dot (talk) 09:52, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes i have submitted for the change of username already. awaiting confirmation. But i still feel the information on this page is valuable and read worthy. But i am still unsure how go about responding to the proposed deletion of page correctly
You don't need to create a new header with every post. :) If you do what I suggest above, you will need to provide independent reliable sources indicating notability and explain how what you want to post is not routine coverage, which seems to be the concern of the person who posted it. You can also ask them directly to explain further. 331dot (talk) 10:11, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I was the editor who proposed the deletion. Looking further into Wikipedia:WikiProject Football, it appears that this type of article is considered a valid topic. Therefore, I have withdrawn the deletion proposal. --Drm310 (talk) 00:36, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
