AIV

edit

Hey Jc4p, just to let you know, WP:AIV can't act on a user/IP address unless they have a recent (i.e. today) final warning on thier talk page or if it's a school, a tag that says something along the lines of "due to repeated vandalism, this IP may be blocked without further warning". Good luck with your anti-vandal fighting :) SGGH 09:51, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Red/green

edit

Sadly, we don't have a system like karma, though that would be cool. The red/green is how much text they've taken out/added respectively. When it's a large, red, bold number, it frequently means they've blanked a section or the whole page and written YOUR MOM!!! or some such, hence the correlation between red and vandals.

The way I tell what someone's karma is is to look at their talk page (or the history of their talk page) and see how many vandalism warnings they've gotten. Or you can look at their block log (there's a link to it at the top of their contribs page) and see if they've been blocked before. Also, do you have IRC? There's an anti-vandalism channel where bots report suspicious edits. You can add a user to the "blacklist" if they vandalize a lot, so you and other editors see every edit they make. There are other antivandalism tools as well that let you watch problem users. Keep in touch, delldot talk 14:33, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cool, see you in the channel soon! (I was talking about #vandalism-en-wp on freenode, I assume that's the one you found the link to). There used to be some kind of verification process to get into the channel, but I think (I hope) they got rid of that. Peace, delldot talk 14:44, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comment about your edit

edit

You said I couldn't edit the comments on my talk page and linked me to bad practice. However, on that page, it says "Editing others' comments (except on your own user talk page) is generally not allowed." On The Wikipedia talk user page it says "Please note, though, that the removal of good-faith warnings, even though permitted, is often frowned upon." You are free to frown, but since it is permitted, I will go ahead and delete away. I'm new to this though so take it easy on me. People sure are quick to give out stern warnings on here I must say! 10:12, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
