Proposed deletion of Pension reform in Pennsylvania

edit

The article Pension reform in Pennsylvania has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Reads much like an essay; doesn't seem to pass GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 1. The article lacks sourcing to back up the claims. I see where you put some raw html links in the article, however the article needs in-line citations to back up claims as well as show how the subject is notable. This brings up the second issue:
  2. Part of the concern here is that the topic itself may not be notable enough to warrant its own article outside of a general article on Pennsylvania or its government. What you need here are independent, reliable sources that discuss the topic at length. Primary sources, such as things released by the government or people/organizations affiliated with it cannot show notability. Something to keep in mind is that while the Pennsylvania government as a whole is definitely notable, the individual and specific parts of it do not automatically inherit notability from this association.
  3. Avoid original research, which are claims and research created by yourself, based on sourcing that may not explicitly make these claims. Listing specific cases or retirement systems can also come across as original research if there's no sourcing to show why these specific things should be highlighted over other, similar cases or systems.
  4. Wikipedia typically only wants a general overview of a topic, so it's not really necessary to go into a lot of specific detail unless it's particularly noteworthy.
  5. The article lacks a lead similar to what is seen in other articles.
I hope that this helps explain why the page was nominated for deletion and why I moved it. Let me know if you have any questions. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:06, 11 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
