Welcome!

edit

Hello, Jang Won Lim, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was User:Jang Won Lim/Action Square, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi, thank you for the response. I translated a already existing article in what I thought was a neutral tone. Any way I can get the translation published? Thank you Jang Won Lim (talk) 02:53, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, can you please help me?@Drm310 Jang Won Lim (talk) 05:45, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Jang Won Lim: I cannot help you until you review and comply with the paid editing disclosure policy. If you are an employee of Action Square, then disclosure of this information is required and non-negotiable. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:54, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I see. I read the paid editing disclosure policy link. I want to disclose that I am an employee of Action Sqaure. If I do so, can this be pushed to public? All I did was translate the wiki page to English that someone else wrote. @Drm310 Jang Won Lim (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is preferable that you use the {{paid}} template as a more public display of your disclosure. Please use this template on your userpage (User:Jang Won Lim). If you need assistance doing this, I can help you.
Where is the original page that you translated? Is it on Korean Wikipedia? Can you please post a link to it? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:05, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I need help usin gthe paid template. Also, here is the link to the Korean wiki. https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%95%A1%EC%85%98%EC%8A%A4%ED%80%98%EC%96%B4

OK, I have placed the paid template on your userpage.

Now, about the article you translated... each language-version of Wikipedia is considered a separate project with its own policies and guidelines. While there is a lot of similarity between them, there are some differences. So while a topic might be accepted on one version of Wikipedia, that doesn't guarantee its acceptance on other versions.

On English Wikipedia, topics must be considered "notable" to be included. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies. This requires that the company has significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are also independent of the company itself.

The sources you have included with your translated article are all Korean-language sources. This is OK, but it does present some difficulty for me, as I do not speak Korean. That makes it hard for me to evaluate whether these sources are considered reliable by English Wikipedia's standards, and therefore whether an article about the company is notable enough for inclusion.

I am going to check Wikipedia's "local embassy" to see if there is an experienced Wikipedia editor who also speaks Korean. If I can find someone, I will ask if they can assist us with evaluating the sources. In the meantime, do you know if there are any English-language sources that have written extensively about Action Square? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:29, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Drm310

I have some news. I chatted with the user BorgQueen, who is an administrator on English Wikipedia and also a Korean speaker. She believes that the company is notable and that the Korean-language sources are reliable.
The English-language sources you have listed above are a bit of a mixed bag:
  1. Businesswire   No - This is a press release. Press releases are primary sources. We don't want sources that are authored by Action Square itself.
  2. Hypebeast   Yes - I checked the reliable sources noticeboard and this seems to be considered a reliable source.
  3. Pocket Gamer   Warning - My browser warned me that the site's certificate wasn't issued by a trusted authority, so I didn't look at it.
  4. Unreal Engine   No - This appears to be a site owned by Epic Games about their Unreal Engine game engine. It looks like Epic Games gets a royalty from games developed with this gaming engine, therefore they have a commercial interest in promoting game developers who use it. This means that this isn't an independent source.
Going forward, I would recommend moving your article to the draft article space, which is the preferred location for new articles in development. From there, it can be worked on to conform with English Wikipedia's standards for citing sources, as well as layout and appearance. If you want me to move the article to the draft space, I can do that for you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:45, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Drm310: I'd like to clarify. As for the Korean-language sources used, mk.co.kr and Chosun Biz can be considered reliable sources as they're well-known, established news outlets. I don't know about Game Meca since I'm not familiar with the topic and frankly I've never heard of the site. BorgQueen (talk) 14:58, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
It appears that there is a draft article already (Draft:Action Square), created by the user WikiwikiPBot. The text is almost word-for-word the same as your copy in User:Jang Won Lim/Action Square. Are you operating both of these accounts? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, Wikiwikipbot isn't me. I tried to reach this person because he created our company page.@Drm310
If there is already a draft, what would be my next step?
Thank you for your assitance. Jang Won Lim (talk) 01:30, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

You might as well use the Draft:Action Square draft. Anyone can edit draft articles, so you might as well edit this one. The pages Help:Your first article and Help:Footnotes are going to help you a lot here. As for specific improvements:

  • The "About" section has no inline citations (also known as "footnotes"). You should try to put some in there to verify the information.
  • Take out the external link to Steam. External links in the body text are discouraged.
  • Get rid of any sources that are company-authored press releases. Those will be rejected.
  • In the {{Cite web}} citations, keep the original Korean title of the source in the title parameter. Then make use of the language=Korean parameter to indicate that the source is in Korean. Also, use the parameter trans-title to include an English translation of the title. There are a number of other parameters that should be filled in as well. I have modified one of the ChosunBiz citations as an example for you to follow.
  • Delete the extra bolding marks in the section titles. You don't need them.

Hi @Drm310 I tried my best with the edits and sources. Hope you can give it a check! Jang Won Lim (talk) 08:20, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
