Citing sources when editing articles

Just a friendly bit of advice: if you wish to add facts to an article, you're best to cite them clearly (using the citation tool available) and point the link directly to the reference page which contains the pertinent information (eg, the subpage on the Siemen's website, rather than the company's front page). Otherwise, editors are likely to revert your additions as 'unsourced' however good the intention of expanding the article. Please remember to sign your comments on talk pages and the like by typing four tildes (i.e., Fortnum (talk) 21:19, 22 September 2009 (UTC))

Signing your posts to talk pages

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Uninstalling StumbleUpon

Assuming it is StumbleUpon, you need to load Firefox (presumably your web browser of choice), go to the Tools menu and select "Addons". If you have Firefox then see http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Uninstalling%20add-ons. If you have another browser then say which. The top of Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 97 says: "This page contains discussions that have been archived from Village pump (technical). Please do not edit the contents of this page." Dear Prime Hunter, thank you...(I don't really understand what you seem to be saying above (the heading about HTML codes and Stumble Upon that I tried to join in when Jarry pointed it out now seems to have disappeared)) - but anyway, My Tools menu has now displayed an add-ons sign (strangely enough) - but when I clicked on it it seemed to be asking me to delete my e-mail account (but the disable Stumble Upon was ticked - but faded out, so I couldn't click on it. I just then clicked something vaguely - and then it said Stumble Upon had been deleted, but the fact is it hasn't all - it is still there...Janeyjo (talk) 08:06, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

The section Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 97#Odd article headers is still there, but I reverted [1] your edit to the section because the page is an archive.

Are you saying you still have StumbleUpon and it's still misformatting pagenames? I haven't tried StumbleUpon but the Google search uninstall StumbleUpon gave many hits, for example http://www.ehow.com/how_5653901_remove-stumbleupon-toolbar.html. There are tips on fixing the formatting issue without uninstalling at Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2012 February 29#HTML tags in page titles. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:39, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Dear Prime Hunter, I can't find the Odd Arcticle Headers in the list on the Village Pump (main menu). Also, when I first read Jarry's note about 'all's well that ends well' I couldn't understand it not only because the Odd Headers article wasn't there, but because Stumble Upon WAS still there on the menu. The current section at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) is Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Does everyone have the span/dir/ auto message now on top of almost every Wikipedia page they consult? In that section Jarry1250 made a piped link on "alter its settings". That link goes to a section on an archived page: Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 97#Odd article headers. It says a Janeyjo page doesn't exist - strange as I've just been trying to get in touch with bowen94 to tell him/her that thefirst sentence of his report on Darth Vader is ambiguous as it could be taken to suggest that the actor's real name is Skywalker. I think it needs editing - but though other people seem good at clearing up my edits I don't seem to have the power to suggest an edit to anyone else except through sabotaging the page by writing a comment such as this for all to see...?Janeyjo (talk) 07:06, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
