On notability, sources, and why your addition to Theistic Satanism was removed edit

The guidelines on:

  • Notability state that a subject is considered notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Just having a website is not enough.
  • Sources would not accept BibleOrigins.net as it a personal website that does not have any editorial review, is not peer-reviewed, and runs contrary to most other accepted sources on the origin of Satan.
  • Promotion and neutrality call for avoiding saying that a religious belief is valid.
  • Original research calls for not taking a single source (even if it wasn't questionable) and expanding it to a generality.
  • Conflicts of interest calls for editing within the guidelines before editing for one's own interests. That is, while you are welcome to edit in the article Theistic Satanism, and can even edit about your organization, your edits must fit within the guidelines (especially those presented above).

Ian.thomson (talk) 22:48, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I was unaware that just because something is not 'mainstream' it is not acceptable. The source of bibleorigins.net was strictly used to show where Grand Magister Blackwood based some if not all of his viewpoint from.. As far as him being notable, it is difficult in the Area of Satanism to list some people, as there are people in the Satanic community that set out to destroy any thing that does not agree with their point of view, or someone that they dont like.

If you hVE ny tips on how to accomplish these type of edits that do not get removed, I would appreciate it. Due to the fact that the mention in the Article regarding the Cult of The Ram is false, has no reference, and yet is STILL listed on the page. High Magister Nicholson (talk) 12:42, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please clarify your question. I think the answer is make sure your edits are sourced.--intelatitalk 19:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the Cult of the Ram not having any sources that demonstrate notability, thanks for pointing that out. I've gone on and removed that section, and rather pushy original research in the article based on it. I believe it must have been added in before I started watching the article, so I didn't catch that. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:58, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Returning To Wikipedia - edit

I am having some issues, as I have finally got back to Wikipedia, and would like to be involved.

I am, however, no longer associated with those whom I was associated with before and would like to contribute properly to the categories involving Satanism.

Is there a way that my username could be changed, without doing a new account? I wish to redo my own talk page as well, with more details, OR have someone simply research me and write it for me if possible. Any help is appreciated, as I wish to be a valid contributor to the knowledge of Satanism.

James L. Nicholson II 01:27, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello James, you can request your user name to be changed at WP:RENAME. For usernames that are not already taken, you can go to WP:CHUS. If you want to change your username to an already taken one, you can go to WP:USURP. Hope this helps. If you need more help, feel free to re-add the {{helpme}} template. -- Luke (Talk) 01:33, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I did the name change request as you have suggested on the WP:CHUS and have not seen it happen, and the request did not show up on the list.. Is there a lag time in getting a change accomplished? --James L. Nicholson II (talk) 05:06, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest trying again - your only edit at CHU/S appears to have removed another post and not added yours. Don't ask me why... See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Changing_username/Simple&diff=prev&oldid=448851616 I'm not sure why no-one has picked up on that yet. Peridon (talk) 14:02, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
The deleted one has now been sorted out. You just need to go there again - but this time do a preview (if it lets you) just in case... Have a look at History and click

your edit to be sure. Peridon (talk) 15:31, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Satanipedia edit

Hi! I checked out Satanipedia, and think you should take a look at this: mw:Manual:Short URL. You've likely been there already since you configured the site but by the looks of it you haven't put it to use; I don't know how web-savvy you are so it may have looked difficult or confusing, but I'd say it really is important to configure the short URLs. I myself used the first alternative, mw:Manual:Short URL/wiki/Page title -- no root access, since I have no root access on my host, and it's working perfectly. If you need any help regarding that, I may be able to help, though I'm not exactly an expert with things as advanced as that.

There's probably other comments I have to make about the site, esp regarding the technical side, but I think I'll find the time later to actually sign up and all that, and wait for you to confirm here that my input is welcome — you may (or may not) have seen me around here and I can't remember right now if I've said or done things that may have had upset a Satanist. (Ha!) — Jean Calleo (talk) 04:55, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your comments are more than welcome and appreciated - Satanipedia is a work in progress, and I am
working on its growth.. Arduous but worth it. I will indeed check out your recommendations, :however I may have been there already at some point - I have read a TON of information about :MediaWiki. Appreciate your opinions - and don't worry, I do not take offense like some people do, :and do not see were you would have upset any Satanists... HS --James L. Links edit

re this, see this. tl;dr – they only removed those links to make a WP:POINT. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:00, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually he was bringing the article in and of itself to my attention - I am not a member of the Sinagogue of Satan, and have my own organization. The second link you removed is a non-biased informational site, however you seem to only focus on the SOS link. IF you wish to accuse me of something, then maybe you should not do so with such a blind disregard of evidence. I reverted both Links, and this is not against the rules. However attacking me on my Talk page IS.

I am being attacked due to an edit on Theistic Satanism and reverting a needless removal of links that were not in violation of any governing Wikipedia Practices. Please assist me in this matter.

James L. Nicholson II (talk) 16:13, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can you take a better look? I have no idea what you're accusing me of, and I've never attacked you. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:25, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
You are accusing me of impartial editing and trying to use a non-neutral point of view. By singling out a request for assistance on an article to justify your removal of links that were justifiably placed, you are accusing me of incorrect editing procedures. You removed such without consulting anything other than your personal opinion, and did not take the time to look at the talk page for any information.
You are attacking me by saying in essence "SEE THIS!! THEY DID THIS ON PURPOSE". That is an attack, and your attempt to feign at ignorance of such wording is not working for me. James L. Nicholson II (talk) 16:32, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
You seem really confused. I just wanted to clarify to you why that person removed those links. I haven't accused you of anything anywhere, maybe you're mixing up usernames. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:35, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
(Thanks for moving it -- didnt pay attention myself either.. PArt of the confusion) I just re-looked at the entire situation, and I understand what you are saying.. My apologies, as I indeed did have the Usernames mixed up - I see what you mean in your original posting, and the wording is also what confused me. Could you please put a similar message on the Talk:Theistic Satanism page? Again - I apologize for misinterpreting your messages as attacks, as I had the wording of your first message confused, as well as your Username. James L. Nicholson II (talk) 16:52, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the confusion; "tl;dr –" usually means "the following is the "too long; didn't read" version of the text". By "they" I meant Jarandhel. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
