When creating a new article, e.g. 1971–72 Everton F.C. season, while it is perfectly acceptable to use another article as a template for layout, you shouldn't really copy and paste info across with the intention of overwriting with the new details later. If you can't fill in all the correct information in one edit, either do it in small stages or copy it elsewhere (e.g. your sandbox or a text file on your computer) and do the work there. It is misleading to have information for one season in a different article. I'm sure I've mentioned this to you before. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 23:25, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Simpson’s Production codes

Production codes are stuff for the affikcionados, it took me a while to figure out what they were. I listed one of them at WP:RfD, to gage the opinion of other users, but I do not think these redirects are very helpful. 2007 Football League Championship play-off Final

Hey Jameboy, hope you're well and keeping safe. I've been working through Championship play-off final articles back from 2019 (I started with 2000 in all honesty, ITFC's glory in the sun against Barnsley) and every article I've worked on has been duff, but I'm now at the 2007 article which I note into which you had serious input. I've got a decent "template" for these articles up and running (something like a dozen GAs now) but I didn't want to stomp all over this one without at least inviting you to help/object etc? Take a look at any of the Championship play-off final pages post-2007 and let me know what you think. What I'd really like is for help on getting up to GAN. Anyway, I hope all is well and that you won't mind if I make some adjustments with (preferably) or without you to build this article up to GA status. Cheers. English Football League as a 'fully professional league'

The English football league was far from 'fully professional' at that stage – see User:Bring back Daz Sampson/Professionalism in English football. There is a currently a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues to decide on a suitable cut-off date and at the moment consensus seems to be pointing to around 1958 (creation of Division Four) or 1961 (abolition of the maximum wage), although it's clear there were swathes of part-timer teams and players competing much more recently than this. Premier League aggregate score record

I know that, that's why I asked "so what?" Unfortunately, that user didn't seem to want to engage regarding the encyclopaedic merits of the content and ignored my question. If anyone could provide a reason to include it, I'd be open to it, but considering it's so hard to source, it's clearly not a stat that anyone particularly gives much of a damn about, and therefore doesn't have any place in that article.
