Cheers for the photo, I didn't have a free one of him. When did you get it? JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 08:41, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I went to Adelaide Oval and took a pile of photos of Australia and South Africa. They're on my commons account (under User:Blnguyen), all of them. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 00:36, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

SEQ locator map edit

Sorry Westy, I just don't have the time to make maps anymore. Strangely enough, I actully started to make a SEQ locator map a few while ago but I never finished it. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you out. Bongomanrae (talk) 11:03, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit: I went to Nathan, with some classes at Mt Gravatt. Bongomanrae (talk) 11:34, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'll be honest and say they are probably not super accurate but it would be close to correct. I did the measuring on Google Earth.

Nope, don't play baseball and don't even live in Qld. Live in Adelaide and used to play ball in HS.

Well deserved edit

  The Running Man Barnstar
At the risk of looking like we're patting each other on the back, I think you deserve this as much as I do: you've spent a great deal of effort on behalf of this task force and had the first article from the group promoted beyond Start-class. In recognition of those efforts, I hearby award you the Running Man Barnstar!  Afaber012  (talk)  04:50, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Firstpadres.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Firstpadres.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:52, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have just granted you rollback rights because I believe you to be trustworthy, and because you have a history of reverting vandalism and have given in the past or are trusted in the future to give appropriate warnings. Please have a read over WP:ROLLBACK and remember that rollback is only for use against obvious vandalism. Please use it that way (it can be taken away by any admin at a moment's notice). You may want to consider adding {{Rollback}} and {{User rollback}} to your userpage. Any questions, please drop me a line. Copy and paste from other sites edit

To indicate an article has been copied entirely (or in large part) from Baseball-Reference's bullpen, use this template: {{bullpen|Gary Nilsson}} (with the appropriate BR Bullpen Article inserted in lieu of Nilsson). We at the Bullpen appreciate that you find our work so valuable but would like credit when due. - --71.182.166.254 (talk) 00:19, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have never copy and pasted a BR Bullpen article word for word if you check my contributions, and when referenced BR Bullpen in articles before, have had the reference removed due to it "not being a reliable source" and have not seen the GNU template before. As for David Nilsson and Jay Nilsson, I relied on only the format of paragraphing by season and made sure to properly reference and cite all information (something which BR Bullpen doesn't do and which makes it very different from Wikipedia). From now on, I will make sure to reference all BR Bullpen findings, as it is a very useful site and I apologise if it has caused inconvenience or misrepresentation. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 06:03, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, when (years ago?) I sought to reference the Bullpen, I was told as well that -- because it was a Wiki -- it was not a reliable source for Wikipedia articles, and should not be cited to.----
It'd be well over a year ago, yes. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 06:24, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry -- that "when" was confusing. I wasn't asking you when ... but telling you when. If that makes any sense. BTW -- mister ip address -- you say "we at the bullpen". But I thought all of the baseball ref staff were either in Philly, Columbus, OH, Boston, or Atlanta, and you seem to be in Pittsburgh. Or am I wrong?--Epeefleche (talk) 06:28, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
1)In response to Epeefleche, The Baseball-Reference Bullpen has contributors from all over. Sacramento, Quebec, Toronto, Chicago, etc. Yes, I personally am in Pittsburgh. 2) In response to JRAWesty, it seems that one wiki would say another source was unreliable simply because it too was a wiki. - --209.195.183.213 (talk) 16:27, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Umm, I guess? I don't make the rules on what a reliable source is. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 00:14, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Alex Lawless edit

Thank you for your review, but just to note I was hoping to do some more work on the article before it reached that stage. I assumed (wrongly, in this instance) it would be a long while before it would be reviewed due to the backlog and this would have allowed me time to expand the article. Nevermind. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:40, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's ok, reassessment is common and the main thing to do is expand this article as it is referenced quite well (unlike many other GA nominations). Using a wide range of reliable sources isn't needed to pass GA criteria, that's why I passed all three in the references section =]. Hope I could help! Talk:Maryland Terrapins football/GA1 edit

I hate seeing the GA promotion held up by this one thing. I agree the lead is incredibly important and could easily be improved, though. The editor made a change requested to the lead but not the one I was looking for. I have thrown in some advise and made a mention at the project page for college ball so maybe a third or fourth opinion will help show that we are off or the editor needs to make the change.Cptnono (talk) 07:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree it's a good article and it's a little frustrating that the point of a good article review is to have seek an opinion on an article to have it graded, yet the editor seems very resistant to change. Reading the lead the first time, it just felt too long, but I could be entirely wrong and this was why I asked for the second opinion, so I'd be more than happy to seek further opinions. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 08:28, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't know if you read through the discussion (kind of long) but my opinion was the length of related content + tone made it a concern. I think we are on similar pages on this. Hopefully, the editor will get sick of it not being promoted to try an alternative draft or the college football project editors will give some advice. I would be happy to be incorrect on it but don't think I am.Cptnono (talk) 08:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I took out the list of coaches in the lead (it isn't that huge of a change but does adjust the way it reads). It is leangthy. However, the lead now summarizes everything in the article as it should and is inline with the paragraph to article size ratio. What do you think? There are a few things that a member of the college ball project mentioned. The concerns I agree with are: Should most recent history be reduced from a year by year summary (recentism is a concern) and is "Dark years" to subjective? I'm OK with Dark years but think an alternate could be used. Any thoughts on reducing the last paragraph would be greatly appreciated.Cptnono (talk) 02:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I can't see many more problems with the article myself, you seem to have taken on the role of a second reviewer well, so if you want you can pass it. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 14:15, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've been busy the past few days with university studies, I will contact the editor notifying him that he has a day to start making improvements. I should have contacted him earlier about it being due. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 07:54, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is you, too? I don't want you reviewing my articles! :) In all seriousness, making all articles better is in Wikipedia's best interest but this one has some work. It was mentioned at the footy project (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Help with GA nom required and I will be doing some ref work but if you don't see it really improved in a few days it can probably be failed.Cptnono (talk) 06:40, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Which MLB team are you rooting for in the WS? Or do you not root for MLB teams?--Epeefleche (talk) 10:42, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well. I used to be a Cleveland supporter, but they traded the whole team this season, so I started supporting LAA and Phillies. I'll support any team with an Aussie in it though, so Seattle, Rays, Braves or even Diamondbacks on a slow day ;) JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 12:12, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Wells, sorry given that you are a Phillies supporter that yesterday didn't work out for you.--Epeefleche (talk) 03:45, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Haha not too fussed, the Yankees team at the moment has to be one of the best teams ever seen. Bats all through the lineup and a great pitching staff. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 05:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yep. Will be interesting to see the changes. Damon and/or Matsui, I imagine. I wonder who the team will buy.--Epeefleche (talk) 05:02, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notability criteria edit

Hi. Question. I recall us chatting in the past about notability criteria for baseball players. I've just looked at another AfD for a minor leaguer, but it appears to me that the criteria may have changed from what I recall them being. Is that the case? Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 21:54, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Don't think so, I'll have a peek. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 01:44, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello JRA WestyQld2! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 937 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Shae Lillywhite - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Tasmania Olympic Bid edit

So a "bid" that starts as a radio prank, does not have the support of the AOC, the state or federal government or the city council, and has the organising committee headed by a radio announcer deserves serious consideration in the article about the state? Are you serious? It is nonsense from start to finish. There is no "bid" worthy of the name, there will be no bid placed by Hobart (or anywhere else in Aust. for that matter) and its inclusion in the article only embarasses the encyclopedia. -- Mattinbgn\talk 02:06, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

It started off as a radio prank, but has gained support. It hardly 'embarrasses' Wikipedia, the article simply notes a fact from a reliable source, whether in your opinion you think it is nonsense or not, there is nothing to suggest the interest is still a joke. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 02:14, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
The only 'fact' is that a small group of people have an interest in an Olympic bid. That does not give it any credibility. If there is any support from the AOC or state or federal government then we can revisit. Barrylb (talk) 04:33, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful, thank you Barry. I really couldn't care less about the content being in the article or not, I was justifying my apparent 'vandalism', which I thought really wasn't that outlandish but it seemed to have struck a nerve with Mattinbgn. Enjoy the long weekend! JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 05:12, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Summer Olympics ballparks edit

I remember reading an article a few years ago that the Sydney ballpark lay empty, and what a shame it was; obviously, that's not the case. Since baseball's not exactly a headline sport in Athens (did they even play baseball in Greece before 2004?), I doubt that venue's being used for much, either. And I know they've torn down the one in Beijing...too bad, it looked like a nice little ballpark on TV. (For that matter, are they still using the Barcelona venue for baseball these days?) Anyway, thanks for the info. RMc (talk) 18:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

(PS: When are they bringing back the Australian Baseball League?) RMc (talk) 18:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
