Flicker fixer edit

Hi, JIP.

You're right about the flicker fixer in the A3000. It ought to be said that there was a flicker fixer device incorporated into the Amiga->VGA convertors which are so prevalent now. Flicker fixing was going to be standard on the AAA chipset, and I've added an article for this today. - Richardcavell 02:30, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

WikiThanks

Thanks for supporting my RFA. I really appreciated the show of support and all the kind words from so many great Wikipedians. I hope I live up to them! -- Vary | Talk 17:54, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RFA edit

Thanks for participating in my RfA. It passed with a final tally of 98/13/10, just two short of making WP:100. If you need my help with anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Don't insult people on AfC edit

Hi JIP. Perhaps you should take a break from WP:AfC for a while. Three of your replies earlier today were quite biting:

  • Try writing some text in the article next time
  • If that's a side effect or after effect of masturbation, then I have to try it. (a different submission, by a different editor than the masturbation post)
  • Aren't there newspapers or magazines in your country? Or is your company too poor to pay for its advertisements?

The low quality of the submissions to AfC is frustrating to me too, but we need to remain civil. And remember, you don't have to reply to the bad posts – just ignore them. ×Meegs 21:19, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The middle one was a simple joke and not intended to be insulting at all. However, I take your point about the other two. I'll have to hold my emotions in check next time I decline AfC submissions. Thanks. JIP | Talk 21:37, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of people by name confusion edit

You asked:

Why did you replace the contents with List of people by name: Gar with those of List of people by name: Gam-Gaq?

A mysterious clerical error, surely involving cutting and pasting the entire contents of an edit window, which i occasionally have reason to do. Thanks for catching & correcting it.
Likewise:

What does your cryptic acronymic edit summary mean?

It's not at all cryptic on the edit you asked abt (tho some others are not lk'd as that one is). It's a lk going to Talk:List_of_people_by_name#Jerzy's_Grand_Tour_of_LoPbN. If that section raises questions, ask here; i'll watch-list yr talk page for a while.

Successful RfA edit

Thanks for your support and kind words on my recent RfA, which I am pleased to say passed with a final tally of 80/1/1. If you ever need any help, or if I mess something up as an admin, please let me know.

Another RfA edit

JIP would like to nominate you to be an administrator. [...]

That's very kind, I'm not really RC patrolling regularly though, just once in a while when the fancy takes me. I'm going to decline, but the offer is appreciated. --W(t) 14:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RFA withdrawal :( edit

Hello JIP, it is my apologies to bring you that I've withdrawn my RFA. Due to the lack of experience, I would go under admin coaching first before trying again later. I would thank you for your vote in this RFA whether you voted support, oppose or neutral for me. I appericiate your comments (if you do have) you made and I hope to see you here in future. --Terence Ong 15:42, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

John Steven Lasher afd edit

Hi, I'd like to ask if you'd perhaps reconsider this AfD on the basis of some new points I've brought up. Thanks! Girolamo Savonarola 16:15, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

"You have messages" edit

Just writing to say I agree with you. Those fake "you have messages" tags really annoy me. I actually unilaterally deleted one from a user page once as it compounded the annoyance by not only making me think I had a new message but by - when I clicked it - taking me to a religious article! --kingboyk 09:18, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The AfD mess edit

Hi, Jitse, saw your anguished note in the talk page. I've just been royally PO'd myself there. I tried to renominate an certain article for deletion which obviously violated WP:NOR (it even has a byline, fer Chrissakes), but the conclusion of the first AfD was no result apparently because the author claimed newbiedom and promised to fix the problems, but never made any subsequent edits. This was back last Fall. Anyway, I tried to follow the very vague official explanation and the result was--- total disaster. Made it look like I was vandalizing the friggin' AfD log, which really pissed me off. Anyway, I left angry notes suggesting that someone who knows how to do this should rewrite the official explanation to avoid future problems of this nature, but this is a good example of why I am pessimistic. The current maintainance procedures are hopelessly clogged, with no leadership even ensuring that instructions for basic tasks are up to date and not incomprehensible even to an experienced WP user like myself.

Email follows on that other thing. ---CH 17:40, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Are you sure you've got the right user here? I am not called Jitse by anyone anywhere, and I have not complained about being unable to properly nominate articles for deletion, only about getting bad feedback about deleting articles based on AfDs. JIP | Talk 18:08, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

American understanding of Finns edit

This is a little off topic for the AfD, but there is some growing understanding of Finland in America thanks to Connan O'Brien. Seems like a nice place, but cold...very very cold... youngamerican (talk) 20:57, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, it's very cold here at the moment, but just wait three months and it'll be warm and sunny all around here. JIP | Talk 20:58, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RFA edit

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting / opposing / vandalising my RFA! The result was 71/3/0 and so I am now still a normal user / an administrator / indefinitely banned. Your constructive criticism / support / foulmouthed abuse has given me something to think about / helped me immensely / turned me into a nervous wreck. If there's any way I can help you in return, please ask someone else / suffer and die / drop me a line! --Sam Blanning (formerly Malthusian) (talk) 19:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Mr Blanning, thank you for choosing the ACME Auto-thanker! Simply strike out the phrases that do not apply and tear off this strip at the indicated line to give all your supporters and detractors the personalised response they so richly deserve.

Hi edit

Hi JIP, and thank you for taking time to vote on my RfA. I understand that my last 6000+ edits were not sufficient to convince everyone that edits like some of my early ones would never be repeated again. Of course, I'll continue working the way I've been since November, and hopefully would develop trust of more wikipedians in future Regards, and I appreciate very much your kind support. deeptrivia (talk) 03:36, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Horribly Misguided Deletions edit

I think poorly of your decision to delete the Stir page I created. I think the band is back on the upswing. The music is available from allofmp3.com and mp3.com.

Please respond to this post here or on my user page. This seems like an unfair deletion. A still born birth. Completely unwarranted. The page that you deleted fits none of the "speedy deletion" guidelines. posted on user page by User:Krakrjak, moved by Alf melmac 09:59, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have added this issue on WP:DRV. JIP | Talk 10:04, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, JIP, just to balance things out, I think highly of your reaction to the speedy complaint. Whether the original was a speedy or not is irrelevent, but your calm response to the above heated comment is admirable, and worthy of an admin :) Regards, MartinRe 12:55, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to offer an apology. I was far to heated in my original response to the speedy deletion. However, the article is now well on its way and has been fleshed out enough to probably have its stub tag removed. Sorry for the lack of assuming good faith on my part I won't make that mistake again. Also thank you for teaching me about DRV and AfD processes. I have learned a lot from it. Once the AfD finishes feel free to remove this heading from your talk page if you wish. Krakrjak 04:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stir edit

Hi JIP,

Since Stir was reposted (and marked by someone for G4 CSD), I have gone ahead and begun an AfD, which in some obviates the DRV debate. I wouldn't have done this had you indicated any desire to uphold the deletion, but you didn't seem to mind. If I have screwed up in some way, feel free to delete everything and kill me, too. :) I'm also sorry you were the recipient of the rude message above. Xoloz 16:59, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for supporting/opposing/commenting on my request of adminship, sadly the result was 54/20/7 an thus only 73% support votes, resulting in that the nomination failed. As many of you commenting that I have to few main-space edits, I'll try to better my self on that part. If you have any ideas on what kind of articles I could edit, pleas send me a line. :) AzaToth

RfA Results and Thanks edit

JIP/Archive 12, thank you for supporting me in my recent RfA. Although it did not succeed as no consensus was declared (final: 65/29/7), I know that there is always an opportunity to request adminship again. If and when that day comes, I hope you will once again support me. If at any time I make any mistakes or if you would like to comment on my contributions to Wikipedia, you are more than welcome to do so. Regardless of your religious, cultural, and personal beliefs, I pray that whatever and whoever motivates you in life continues to guide you on the most righteous path.
