The Namibian Chapter of the Institute of People Management is an organisation with a clear purpose and set goals that are aimed at enhancing the skills set and level of Human Resource Practioners.It was established in 2010 as an official platform where human resources professionals are able to meet and discuss common issues and challenges, and work closely together.[1] Delegates agreed to establishment an official HR body that will become the official platform where HR Professionals are able to meet and discuss issues and challenges that are common, and work closely together.The Namibia Institute of People Management (IPM) symbolises an important step that captains of the human capital investment in various sectors of the Namibian industry have taken to deal with critical issues in the day to day operations of any organisation.[2] Mr.Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Officer at MTC is the founder and President of the Institute of People Management of Namibia.Some of the objectives of the organisation include the desire to professionalise the HR profession to ensure that HR becomes a recognised and respected profession, by proving stringent standards and ethical accountability through accrediting HR.[3]Today the Institute is administered by an ad-hoc Committee under the leadership of Mr Tim Ekandjo until such time that Institute members are able to vote in official elections.

Vision

To be the officially recognised voice for all HR Professionals in Namibia and the SADC .[4]


Mission To be the gateway for Namibian HR Professionals by providing world class HR services and advice, offer accreditation and provide leadership and direction in the HR profession[5]


IPM Namibia Convention

Institute of People’s Management has an Convention that takes place annually at Safari Conference Centre in Windhoek.The first IPM Convention in Namibia took place from 21 to 23 November 2011 in Windhoek. It was officially opened by Prime Minister Nahas Angula who is also the IPM Namibia patron while Alpheus Muheua, deputy Minister of Labour spoke about the role, opportunities and challenges of Human Resource Development in Africa.This first Annual Convention offers access to both local and international thought leadership through its profile of local, regional and international speakers. All speakers have presented at numerous conferences across Africa and internationally. Collectively they bring over 100 years of HR knowledge and expertise to the conference.[6]The convention large sections of the local human resources community as well as people management and marketing gurus from around the continent. It discuss the status quo in people management, challenges and mechanisms to redress these challenges through effective people management.The is a registration fees for the three-day conference with meals included.Any corporate or organisation in Namibia and which has an HR department , or any individual with a people management role, is allowed to the IPM.


According Ekandjo, “IPM Namibians have the potential to make a difference, and since IPM is about changing minds, the theme is appropriate as the idea is for all delegates to take ownership of the HR agenda right after the conference.” The regional and local speakers who attended the first Convention were Elijah Litheko, Dr. Tjama Tjivikua, Gary Mc Gillianddy, Mpumzi Pupuma, Yendor Felgate, Tony Frost, Herbert Jauch, Victor Banjo and Berthold Mukuahima",[7].
