Horse Crazy: Girls and the Lives of Horses

Hi! I know that your class is over, but I have some notes for your new article:

• This is written in an extremely promotional tone. This is likely because it was copied verbatim from the promotional material for the book and author. This is seen as a copyright violation (and if this was schoolwork it would be plagiarism). Unless it's explicitly stated that it falls into the public domain or a compatible Creative Commons license, you should assume that the content cannot be copied and duplicated on Wikipedia. The thing with Wikipedia is that anyone can use the content and adapt it for any reason, which means that someone could adapt the article and sell it for their own profit, which the restrictive copyright won't allow. The plagiarism and copyright training module covers this in more depth. You can also visit this page for information as well.

• This needs independent, reliable sources to establish notability for the book. When it comes to academic texts the most common way of showing notability are usually reviews. Since the book hasn't been released, there may not be sources out there for the book. In my past experience this usually only happens once the book is released, as it's relatively unusual for books in general to receive advance reviews in the way that films would, or at least usable advance reviews.

• Articles on Wikipedia are formatted in a fairly specific way when it comes down to it. There can be some alternatives, but the basic gist is that the article should have a lead section that states what the article is about, sections discussing specific aspects of the topic, and a reference section. Books have their own unique layout. This brochure gives information on that layout and you can also review articles on other books like To Kill a Mockingbird to see how they're laid out.

Since this article contains a copyright violation I'm going to have to remove the article from Wikipedia. I would recommend that you hold off on creating an article about this book, as I wasn't able to find where it's received enough coverage to pass the notability guidelines for books at this point in time. • Now all of this said, I do love that you wanted to return to Wikipedia and edit! If you would like some suggestions on articles to edit or add, I can definitely give you some! If you like films, the movie Fury of the Demon does definitely need an article. I've been meaning to write it myself but haven't really ever found the time to do it. I have some sources for it in [[User:ReaderofthePack/sandbox|the sandbox of my main account. There are some other articles on there that I am also meaning to improve, but never found the time for - definitely feel free to snag one of those as well. One of them, Daddy's Roommate, went through a Good Article nomination and needs some cleanup so that it can be resubmitted. The information on what needs to be done can be found here. • If you specifically want to edit on non-fiction works, there is a whole category of those, which can be found at Category:Non-fiction books by discipline. This page has further, more specific subsections where the pages will be listed. You can also go to Category:Book stubs if you want to specifically work on stub books.
