Crossed reverts

Oops. We both tried to fix the same page. Is there a way to make that less likely? Coren 23:28, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't know of any, but when you reverted it, it wasn't reverted all the way. Unless someone else has gotten that done by now, I'll go off and finish the reversion. In the future, you should go further back in the page history to make sure that there have been no other vandals in the past few edits. InvisibleK 23:33, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Carolina Chickadee photo

You have placed a photo on the page for Carolina Chickadee, this is from the USGS/NPWRC web site. You have to watch the images on that site--not all are taken by US govt. employees--many are reproduced on that site with permission, and I believe that is true for that photo. See this page, which is basically their copyright statement:

They have provided permission for viewing images and playing the sound files in conjunction with use of this website, but permission must be obtained for other uses of the files. See also the list of photographers, which lists Jim Stasz as a private individual. (Even a USGS employee might have taken a photo on their own time and then allowed its use.) That's not a great photo, at any rate. I've got a similar average photo of the bird and will replace it until we can find a better one. File:Snail darter.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Percina tanasi.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Percina tanasi.jpg]].
