GHS edit

Hi, WAvegetarian here, aka Connor Lee, GHS c/o '05. I was just wondering who you are. I would be happy to work on adding the in-text citations to "cite-source" template citations. I don't believe that the template existed at the time of my original work on the page, or if it did I was not aware of it. I think that having the in-text citation is helpful, however, for people who want a quick link for more info on that specific thing, for instance the alum section. I also think that adding them all to the external links would be terribly cluttered. Since their titles don't necessarily reflect the piece of info of relevance to the article, just having them in the citations section isn't terribly helpful for someone trying to find more info. Collin Sutton, GHS c/o '07. In-text citations are often helpful, I agree. Maybe we should try to place the citations (templated or not) with the section the source is used in whenever possible? When a citation link is broken, though, such as the one under history, they're no good at all. Something else to consider: it would seem that the general style on Wikipedia is to provide a link the the Wiki page for a certain thing if it exists, rather than to simply provide a link to an external web page (as I've done with the Mountaineers reference).--Insaneinside 19:57, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree about broken links and preference of wikilinks. I have fixed the one you mentioned. Somehow ":Cite Sources" had accidently been added to the end of the URL. The Mountaineers page had not been created, by me, at the time of my first writing that section. I'm glad that you changed it. I think that having them in both places could be helpful. Having them all listed at the end does give people a better sense of the quality of our sources.WAvegetarian 20:25, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Could you upload a shot of the front entrance of the school for the article? If I remember correctly, the two best angles are squatting with your back to the redesign sign or standing below the front steps and zooming in a lot. You can get a camera from Miranda if you don't have one yourself. (see Talk:James_A._Garfield_High_School_(Seattle)#Image_replacement_request) WAvegetarian 20:34, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Seattle Meetup edit

    Seattle meetup 6
  Date: April 8 and April 18, 2009
  Place: UW Seattle campus
  Seattle meetup 5 occurred June 19, 2008

You should go to this. It is going to be a gathering of all the Washington/Oregon Wikipedians. See if you can get Miranda interested in it as well. It will be on a Saturday afternoon followed by dinner somewhere downtown/U. District. I'm going to be back home for winter term so I'll probably be there.--WAvegetarian 03:31, 10 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
