Speedy deletion nomination of User:Indya1

edit

A tag has been placed on User:Indya1 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion

edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because... I am helping out a friend who asked me to write the above article on her behalf. I would be very grateful if you would please explain what is wrong with it. As far as I am aware, I have done everything correctly and with your rules. I feel quite strongly that an understandable reason should be given.

I, as the owner of this page and the material herein, wish to know what is wrong with the article.

Kind regards,

Natalie

There's a few issues here, so I will go over them point by point.
  1. You do not own any page on Wikipedia, see WP:OWN for more information. All 'pages' belong to the community. By posting something here, you release it to the community, which is stated at the top of every edit window("Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted. Encyclopedic content must be verifiable. Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone—subject to certain terms and conditions."). If you are posting content that you own (such as from your website) here and you do not wish to release it to the community, you should remove it.
  2. The page you edited was your user page, which is not article space, but a place for you to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia editing or use.
  3. At the Teahouse you stated in this post that your name is 'Mark', but here you state that your name is 'Natalie'. Sharing an account is not permitted; each person must exclusively operate their own accounts. Please select a single individual to operate this account.
  4. Your page was clearly promotional, with much promotional language and embellishment("With a Glamorous Look, Big Curly Hair, sparkles, fluff and Leopard Print, Indya is certainly an entertainer.") This leads me to think that you have a fundamental misunderstanding as to what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not social media for people to tell the world about themselves. This is an encyclopedia, where article subjects must be shown with independent reliable sources with significant coverage to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability; in the case of a musician, that is written at WP:BAND. Wikipedia has no interest in what someone wants to say about themselves, only in what third parties say about them. Autobiographical articles are highly discouraged, as people naturally write favorably about themselves, please see our autobiography policy written at WP:AUTO. If you just want to tell the world about yourself, you should use social media.
If you have any questions, please ask. 331dot (talk) 12:00, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
You will also need to review conflict of interest and, if you are being compensated in any way, paid editing. 331dot (talk) 12:02, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
