Please help me with...
I'm a newbie (just joined yesterday). Primary reason for joining is to fix spelling errors that I'm seeing during searches. I decided to try "seperate" as my first attempt. I cleaned up some articles. My concern is on two articles: Shastri Sisters and Daqing, both of which have more things wrong than just the misspelling, especially the first article. Just how much can I edit without possibly annoying creator of article?

- Hi @Humbug26:, welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for your contributions so far. What you should know is that wikipedia is a collaborative project and this means that nobody has 'ownership' of any page (for more about this see WP:Ownership_of_content). This means that you are not only allowed but encouraged to boldly edit articles to improve them by adding or changing material according to wikipedia's various content guidelines (for more on this see Wikipedia:Be_bold). Occasionally all editors will come across a situation where they make an edit that they think is an improvement to an article, but other editors disagree. In these circumstances it is correct for the other editor to revert the edit that was made. Do not let this discourage you, it is intended only as a way to start discussion on the talkpage of the article to see whether there is consensus amongst editors and whether compromises can be made to get content that everyone is happy with. Do not be afraid to make changes, you may find that other readers of the article will appreciate the improvements and just not have known how to make them themselves. I will add a welcome message to your talkpage after this which will provide some helpful links as you begin to edit. My own favourite is Help:Cheatsheet. Perhaps too you might consider the tutorial available at WP:TUTORIAL which might give some pointers on the important principles of verification - if you provide references to independent reliable sources to back up any editors you make, then you are sure not to go too far wrong. One thing to be wary of on those sort of articles about TV programs is that there is a tendency for writers to add too much in the way of detailed plot summaries etc which do not cite any independent sources - it is understandable if people are fans of the show they will get a little carried away, but encyclopedias tend to look more in summary at the important bits rather than everything. I, personally, don't think that these links to a Canadian website are acceptable for Wikipedia. I posed a question about such links previously at User talk:Moonriddengirl/Archive 59#Public domain elsewhere than in the U.S. Moonriddengirl is something of a copyright specialist at wp.en, and I think that her take should be given great weight; unless a work is public domain in its country of origin, I don't think we should be linking to a site offering a copy of the text.
