Template:National sports teams of England edit

Hi Mike, you're incorrect to say "football's the sole form of football played in the UK". Rugby league and union are two other forms of football with a high profile in the UK. I'm happy to leave "football" as it is though, my edit was aimed at clarity for international readers and because perhaps in the future there could be entries for English teams in American football or Gaelic. Nothing major. LunarLander // talk // 18:10, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Removal of PROD from Oscar Jansson edit

Hello HornetMike, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Oscar Jansson has been removed. It was removed by Govvy with the following edit summary '(Has played and made his debut, removing template. Updating article.)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Govvy before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Eddie Oshodi edit

Hey there, I created an article for Oshodi. Just thought I'd let you know because a pop-up said you'd previously nominated it for deletion, so I thought I'd post to at least say I haven't ignored that. A quick check of the guidelines led me to conclude that he's played a professional game in a professional league, and so is now eligible (whereas North and Antal still aren't). Figured there was no harm in creating it, and deleting it again if that conclusion was wrong. WFCforLife (talk) 03:20, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello HornetMike! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 942 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Reviewer granted edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

Hi there, hope you're having a good summer. I know this is a longshot, but I don't suppose you know anyone who might have free pictures of Gibbsy or Luther? In particular I've done a lot of work on Gibbs (and before you ask, my sleep pattern is work-related!), but I think it would be a crime to have a set of articles on Watford without giving Luther some sort of prominence. Regards, WFC (talk) 15:12, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I never replied to this! Sorry about that! In response, I'm afraid I can't think of anywhere that would. HornetMike (talk) 20:06, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

LMA list and our List of English League Managers edit

As already mentioned on talk on the article, and the footnotes, Mick Wadsworth (Hartlepool) is the other missing name on the LMA list. No apparent reason why they list Pitman but not Kean and Wadsworth, but should we consider LMA inclusion as the difference between a short appointment (to the end of the season) and a caretakership with an amdission that they are not hurrying over the appointment? Kevin McE (talk) 20:52, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah yes! I remember reading that wherever it was now. I wonder why they don't list Wadsworth, or Gradi for that matter. Like with Chris Turner a while back, it's pretty clear that they've got him in permanent charge again. They've listed Kean now, Adams is missing following his move but will presumably turn up, then it's Wadsworth and the 7 caretakers. I can't really decisively answer your question, as on the surface it would appear that the Kean and Wadsworth appointments are the same, at least according to our refs. I could mail the LMA, I suppose? We probably couldn't ref their response, but at least it would make things a bit clearer. HornetMike (talk) 20:06, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think the LMA's webmaster is sometimes simply less than thorough: the page we reference is not necessarily the listing that they consider the most important, the priority for updates. I e-mailed them yesterday to point out that Micky Adams is not on "our" page on their site, but is on their historic list of Sheff Utd managers, and on their profile of Adams.
I was posting Dalglish as not a caretaker, as you did, on the same "end of the season" basis as has Kean and (finally) Wadsworth; "a 5 month agreement differs from a 4 year agreement only in duration" is, I suppose, the underlying assumption. Perhaps the key is what eventually appears here, the Liverpool managers list: will they log it as a caretaker appt (see Thompson on that page). Kevin McE (talk) 11:35, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Invite to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Redirect of discussion edit

Hi Hornet Mike, Greetings to you. I would like to post a message on redirect for discussion with a series of pages without content and redirect to another general related page just as you have done The ABC Murders (TV series) - see here Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2017 December 31#The ABC Murders (TV series). There are many MMA fighters article without content and just put #REDIRECT to List of current UFC fighters by same User:Rickyc123 on The ABC Murders (TV series). I want to do the same, but after reading the redirect how to instruction I am confused and not sure how to do it. I would like to request your assistance by show me step by step how to do it. Thank you in advance. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 22:00, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @CASSIOPEIA:, I found it a little complex at first and obviously they've deleted quite a lot of what I did anyway, but from what I can recall...
 • On all the redirects you want deleted replace: #REDIRECT Where the article points to to
 • Click here to add the redirects you want deleted to today's discussion. Add a new section.
 • Add this text:
 • And underneath that:
 • Do that as many times as you need to and on the final entry replace the }} with |text=The actions you would like to occur (deletion, re-targeting, etc.) and the rationale for those actions.}} ~~~~

That should do it, I think! HornetMike (talk) 18:34, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you HornetMike for the step by step instructions above. I tried and please see on February 3, 2018 and I failed miserably. Not sure how to rework to a correct version at the moment. Just wonder you could help or pointed me to a admin who take care of redirect discussion? CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:31, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi HOrnetMike, my mistakes were fixed by User:Dancter, and was told I added extra on the title pages. I will retry on other request for redirect and see it works. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 19:08, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
