editHello, I'm Velella. I noticed that you recently made an edit to Josh Groban that seemed to be a test. Your test worked! If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Velella Velella Talk 20:17, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you wish to add categories to articles, please create the category first and then add articles to it, not the other way round. In the current situation all your edits are likely to be undone as the category appears as a red-link. Thanks Velella Velella Talk 20:22, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- OK , I think I understand what you are intending. As it stands your new category won't last very long as it is not nested into an appropriate higher level category. All categories sit in a nested structure which , if followed upwards, will always end with [[Category:Main topic classifications]] (I have surrounded this category with nowiki tags to avoid this discussion being categorised). To create an appropriate category, the simplest way is to go to the best relevant higher level category such as Category:American Singers and then works downwards through that until you reach a level where individual singers are listed. That is probably the place to create your new category. I can't promise that even then it will stick - that is up to the views of other editors. Hope that this helps. editYour recent editing history at Brad Pitt shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. This is your last and only warning. You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Heiress (fragrance). Faizan Al-Badri -Let's talk! 13:07, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Overcategorization
editHi, Heronglen. I see you've been actively categorizing pages and that a number of your new categories have sparked controversy. I would like to suggest that you become more familiar with these policies before engaging in any more categorization activities:
You should also keep this list of links handy on either your talk or user page:
