Re:A private/personal question edit

Hey Hassan, you're okay don't worry, I like it when people want to talk sports. Well see, I am well aware of the unofficial rivalry between these two sides, same thing with Barcelona and Milan, but what can I say? I somehow find these clubs enjoyable to watch. Trust me, I am not a bandwagon liking these clubs just because of their recent success, I just genuinely enjoy the way they play, the talented players they have. However, I made my pick in English football clear in the lists you saw, Man United over all for sure! I am not a fan of Chelsea necessarily, but I do find something attractive about the club which I can not dig out anything negative, just the "surface facts". Also, I am not as attached to the Prem as much as I am with La Liga, I just do not follow it as much as I do with Spanish football, so I would be guessing my view of Chelsea would be quite different if I took the Premier League more seriously in this case, again, I only feel attracted towards Chelsea in a "surface" way, if that makes any sense. TheSoccerBoy(𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜) 07:59, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, how about you? What are your football interests? Also, great job on those formatted citations! Keep it up champ! TheSoccerBoy(𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜) 17:04, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • @TheSoccerBoy: "Keep it up champ"? An user who has a LOT of issues when it comes to editing saying to other who ALSO has a lot of issues and fails to reply when receives criticism, in my opinion, does not deserve a "keep it up". You BOTH need to learn how to source things properly. @Hassan Ashas: you are still adding references in a wrong manner. This Wikipedia's language is English indeed, but when the title of the ref is written in Spanish, you should add the translation to it in | trans-title=, not in | title=. MYS77 14:45, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@MYS77: well someone’s having a bad day, who hurt you? Yeah I had some issues with editing... two years ago pal, I have obviously learned from users letting me know in a non-grumpy manner. Who are you to say all this to me? All you’ve ever haunted me about is deleting my articles and yeah, corrected me about THREE times when it comes to editing, I would certainly not call this “A LOT.” Lastly, about citations, anything would be better than just a link slapped in there with no formatting. Hassan has shown at least a minimal improvement, something is something, no need to be a jerk about it. TheSoccerBoy(𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜) 16:26, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@TheSoccerBoy: Nobody hurt me. Instead of doing suggestions that may apply to WP:NPA (and take note that nothing related to my answer applies to that), please understand that WP:CIR. Only corrected you three times? Per day you mean, I guess... At Yan Brice Eteki, you breached WP:OVERLINK, translated incorrectly the reference and failed to include the correct category. Three simple mistakes for somebody who had issues with editing two years ago, don't you think? At Gabriel Etinof, you moved him to Zaragoza when the move was called void days later, as he failed his medical...
As for @Hassan Ashas:, I can see you're making an effort to improve and after your reply to my talkpage, I can assume that you are humble enough to take criticism, which can't be applied to someone else in this conversation... Now onto the technicalities: your pattern is correct, but please do not forget to update the template, the categories and do not add sub-sections when the article has none. If you want to do the latter thing, please make sure to add all sub-sections according to the storyline. MYS77 03:30, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@MYS77: Nice shade, how about you say my name next time? I'm guessing you took the time to lurk through my edit history and spot these mishaps of mine, which I admit to, but would not fall under your category of A LOT. Look, criticism teaches me, I may not always reply, but that does not mean I will not I gladly accept it, you can check my talk page if you are so interested, but I can not just stay put when it is labeled under such a ridiculous term. But my question is... If my mistakes you mentioned seem so impacting, then why have you not corrected them yet? I mean you DID spot them, but what is the goal here? Fixing Wikipedia articles or finding an argument against me? TheSoccerBoy(𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜) 06:35, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@TheSoccerBoy: Eteki was fixed some days ago. I've spotted Etinof's mistake just as I pointed out and forgot to update it. My bad. Still, you're failing to see the point here. I will not discuss your mistakes anymore, since you're so aggressive to admit it. Ah, and please refrain from creating pages as you did with Mere (footballer). Since you don't fail a lot, as you say, you might have to take a new look at WP:FPL and WP:TOOSOON. Cheers, MYS77 13:31, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • No mate, template is the {{FC Barcelona squad}} which exists at the bottom of a player article. Not every team has a template, but for those who have, we should update it. Cheers, MYS77 13:34, 23 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Sure thing. Do not forget to add the signature to your messages too (only in talk pages, never in articles). You can do it by adding the ~~~~ after the message. MYS77 18:14, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Long overdue reply edit

Nice to hear from another Barça fan! And pardon me for the slightly incorrect format I provided you, but I've seen that it already has been fixed. Some small advice I can give you could be to create a user page, to finally get that red rascal link out of your name every time you are mentioned (assuming you would choose to leave it, but if you don't mind having it, then it's fine, completely up to you). Try creating a personalized signature as well, you have no idea about the fun you can have understanding HTML and using it to create your own personalized signature here on Wikipedia :D (as long as you follow the guidelines and stay within the character limit}. Can't wait for the game against Chelsea tomorrow, hopefully you get to enjoy it as well! TheSoccerBoy(𝕥𝕒𝕝𝕜) 06:53, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Recent edits edit

Transfermarkt is not a reliable source, so you should not add references to it. You're still breaching WP:OVERLINK in all of your edits, and some of the edits are still poorly formatted (i.e. Miguel Ángel Rubio Lestán). MYS77 22:15, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

And when referring to the value of a transfer, please write "fee", not "fees". MYS77 22:53, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@MYS77 Transfermarkt is a very well known football website and is known globally by even clubs, hence I am sure that everyone would agree that the information provided by them is not questionable. However, I would agree with you that it is not any news organization or any such website. As for your 2nd point, I think you are trying to say that I shouldn't be adding references to things such as debut game or debut goal for the player, since people wouldn't be much interested in that? I do agree with you. However, let me explain myself a bit.

I have been reading lots of articles of footballers and trying to understand how certain things were added in them. I believe that articles on La Liga players are very short and contain less information than the information they should have, compared to articles on (say) EPL players. Hence, the reason why I was adding details into La Liga articles. As for the references, every player whose article I read had a reference for the debut game, debut goal and etc. and that's the reason why I believed it was necessary to add references for them. For the second point, if you look at Premier League articles, they also have "Match Reports" as references. Like consider Phil Jones or Wilfried Zaha, their debut games and debut goals have reference of BBC Sport, which is nothing but a match report of that game... Kind of similar to what Transfermarkt has, except this that it gives some detail about the game (however, there is no mention in that report of debut of Phil Jones or of Zaha or of any other player, just like Transfermarkt)

And for the formatting part, I have been actually using Visual editor for some time and think it is kind of cool :P It made the whole reference itself using only the link and hence, I didn't have to add every thing by myself. Though, I guess it has certain flaws and from next time, I will be more cautious when using it. (that "fee" error is noted, will not happen again) Hassan Ashas (talk) 05:24, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

I never said that debut matches or debut goals aren't important. I said that you should format the references and the sentences properly, not throw them at the articles. I will repeat myself: Transfermarkt is not a reliable source, this was already established in the past, so no, you can't trust on their content. BBC Sport is a complete match report, with commentaries and a match summary; it's in a different level than Transfermarkt or so on. It's a well established report and their site is reliable, that's why is so used.
And you do care to explain why adding an Indonesian (?) reference to a Spanish football match (Villarreal vs Granada) when you have lots of English or Spanish-based references to add to it? MYS77 11:11, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
And again, do not forget to update the timestamp (the | club-update or | pcupdate parameter in the infobox) when you are updating the player's stats, like you did at Rubén Peña (or did not?). MYS77 11:16, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, actually I couldn't find a source which made an extensive report of that game and thought that Indonesian source was good. From now on, I will only add websites such as BBC, Sport, Marca, Mundo (and few other very popular sites) and if I don't find the required material on these websites, I won't add anything. Sorry for my mistake there. And yes, I do update the timestamp but forgot to do so in certain cases... I will be very careful on this from now on Hassan Ashas (talk) 15:30, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Rodrigo (footballer, born 1991) edit

Hello there, from Portugal,

i sincerely apologise for my summaries, has to do wikifrustration nothing else, nothing personal against you of course. But that does not excuse my actions, hopefully you will accept my apologies.

We all make mistakes, and learn from them. Happy editing, cheers and sorry again --81.193.141.118 (talk) 19:02, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@81.193.141.118: haha, no apologies needed on this. As a matter of fact, I appreciate those edits of yours. I know that even with best efforts, I am unable to make a top quality edit (at least as of now) and you improving them only improves the whole article, which is the whole point of all my edits. Looking forward to your help in more articles as well whenever possible!
Oh and if possible, could you tell me a good translation website for Spanish text to English? (because apparently, Google Translation isn't very appropriate). Thanks in advance! ^_^ Hassan Ashas (talk) 21:14, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Kind of tough to answer that :( The only sites that translate full sentences that i know of are Google T and Linguee (please see here https://www.linguee.com/), and both of them do not seem very reliable. Sure, they will get many sentences right on many occasions, but they also make some horrible mistakes!

For individual words, i like this one (https://www.collinsdictionary.com). Hopefully i was of help to you, happy editing and ask if you have any (more) doubts! --81.193.141.118 (talk) 22:18, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks a lot! ^_^ Google Translator do quite a good job for a whole article (in terms of understanding the article) however apparently not good enough to provide translation to difficult Spanish words.. I will try out the other sites, thank you! Hassan Ashas (talk) 23:56, 13 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
