Japanese Music Charts

edit

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 04:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh okay, thanks. And yeh I don't think alot of english speaking wikipedians do know that because like I mentioned I've never seen a song such as Low with the Oricon Singles Chart in it. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 07:05, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Remedy Drive

edit

A tag has been placed on Remedy Drive requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. --/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 02:36, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Casting Pearls logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Casting Pearls logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Psychostick's second studio album

edit

A tag has been placed on Psychostick's second studio album, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

License tagging for File:American Automatic.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:American Automatic.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:06, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to August Burns Red, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Notability of The Ascendicate

edit

A tag has been placed on The Ascendicate requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Rogerb67 (talk) 23:28, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Ascendicate

edit

Please note I did nominate this article for speedy delete; if you check the page history it was declined with a suggestion I PROD or AfD instead. I suggest you check article history before making unwarranted assumptions, particularly on speedy deletes, which are necessarily acted on quickly.

As you note I did also propose the band's album for deletion as not notable. I did not inform you of this as you are not mentioned as a major editor on that page's history.

Proposed deletion of The Ascendicate

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Ascendicate, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unable to find significant coverage of this band in reliable third party sources; neither does it appear to satisfy the criteria in WP:MUSIC. The subject of this article does not appear to be notable nor to have any prospect of establishing notability at this time. It should be deleted.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Rogerb67 (talk) 10:29, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Redirect of The7method

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The7method, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The7method is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Image permission problem with Image:Leaving all behind EP.gif

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Leaving all behind EP.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Veraladeramanera (talk) 02:26, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

albums not released yet do not belong in the discography. please see WP:CRYSTAL and WP:SYNTH. Wikipedia is not a Crystal Ball. We can say WHEN they intend to release or THAT they plan to release (if you have a reliable, verifiable source). However, this cannot go into the discography, as the discography, by definition, is a list of released albums. You also need a reliable, verifiable source) to say that Nick is only a live artist. Thanks. Wikiwikikid (talk) 20:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't care what the other articles had. They were wrong. Them being wrong doesn't mean this one can be wrong. If you try to add "TBA" as an album in a discography, wikipedia has a filter that warns you not to do this because of WP:CRYSTAL. Obviously, they cannot tell if an actual named album is pre-released or not. We can mention in the article that they PLAN to release their fifth album, but you can't just ASSUME that they will, in fact, do this. For instance, it is certainly POSSIBLE that a legal challenge could arise preventing an album from being released, making wikipedia incorrect. the discography, by definition, is a list of RELEASED albums. please take the time to actually read through the links i've provided you. further, as for nick, i could care less what your album states. without a reliable, verifiable source saying this, it doesn't matter. otherwise, you are violating Wikipedia's original research policy. finally, i have a very well established admin who agrees with me and is providing the same arguments as i am on this (mostly on the paramore page though). Nope - as an EP, it is considered to fail WP:MUSIC and should, by default, be redirected. I'm not quite sure what this is about; at no point did I nominate it for deletion. Ironholds (talk) 01:05, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Side Walk Slam

edit

GreenRunner0, Side Walk Slam has no connection to Rob Walker. Rob Walker was a solo spin-off from Wish for Eden, a grunge band which was based on the west coast. Side Walk Slam was a pop punk band based in Illinois which eventually morphed into Run Kid Run. They were all signed to Tooth and Nail, but years apart. Yes, for some reason, T&N's website incorrectly lists Neil, Josiah, and Matt as the members of Rob Walker. Can you find any other sources to corroborate?

I know first hand experience is not enough for a cite on Wikipedia, but let me explain my knowledge in an attempt to sway you personally. I own Wish for Eden's sole release as well as Rob Walker's sole release. I own Side Walk Slam's last four albums, as well as both of Run Kid Run's albums. I own both Tooth and Nail's 4th Anniversary collection and their 10th Anniversary collection, in which the liner notes detail the rise of T&N and their signing of Wish for Eden to start everything off. I have seen Side Walk Slam and Run Kid Run in concert more than a dozen times total. I was at their first show after getting signed to Tooth and Nail for the first time, in a small coffee house in Lansing, IL, in 2001 -- at which they were ecstatic that they were actually getting some recognition.

As an additional corroborating fact, look at Neil's career. Neil would have been about eleven in 1996. Neil didn't even join Side Walk Slam until after their third album, replacing Marcuss Hall. That's Marcuss in the center of SWS's debut T&N Album, Past Remains. In order for SWS to be Rob Walker's "backing band", an eleven-year-old Neil would have had to travel with Matt and Josiah across the country from Illinois to the West Coast to record the album, after which Neil leaves the band and is replaced by Marcuss. Marcuss stays in the band until around the time when Neil comes of age, at which time he returns to SWS.

Here's what I can do, if you're still not convinced. Since I own Strobe, 2 Steps Forward ..., and Past Remains, I can figure out a way to get you a copy of the liner notes to further validate what I'm saying. Let me know if I need to do that. Jpers36 (talk) 20:36, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
