  • Hi! I saw that the article was deleted - it looks like the main issue was that all of the sourcing was local. Local sourcing tends to be heavily diminished in value on Wikipedia, as the general thought process is that local sourcing is more likely to cover local people and that if it's notable, there will be non-local coverage for the person/topic. However in this case something else to take into consideration is whether or not the person is known for one specific thing that already has an article. In this case, Knauls is really only notable for having purchased the Cotton Club. As such, unless there's coverage that specifically focuses on him he wouldn't merit his own article.
Now to expand on this a little, I saw that you created a section on Knauls in the main article for the Cotton Club - be careful about this since it puts a lot of weight upon him as an individual and could be seen as putting undue weight upon him if the article focuses too much on him. He could certainly merit his own section since he does have notability - his work with the Cotton Club placed him in the Oregon Music Hall of Fame - but you want to make sure that the stuff that's more specific to the Cotton Club is in the sections about the club and that the Knauls only info is in his own section. Also, some of the sections are redundant to one another, as they state the same information more or less. This should be summarized in a single section.
Be careful of terms and phrases like "rise in fame", as this is one of those tricky terms since it can be seen as subjective depending on how it's used. If it's used in the source then that's one thing, but if it's not then it could be seen as a subjective statement. In this situation it would be better to say that it attracted attention or that it drew in popular performers of the era since that wouldn't be subjective - Sammy Davis Jr. and Duke Ellington were undeniably popular in their day.
If possible, can you try to find a source that mentions the prior name of the club or if it was always called the Cotton Club? In the revised version above I tried to avoid using any name to refer to the club prior to Knauls, as it most likely had a different name.
I've gone and did a little revising in a draft on your sandbox, so I would structure the content like that - if you wanted to just use the draft in your sandbox then that's fine - it's all your work, I just revised it some. I did add some content to the section on Knauls, though. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:00, 16 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • I also whittled the images down to just one, since it wasn't really showing up properly due to the images being too numerous for the page - it was messing with the formatting. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:13, 16 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
