ArbCom 2019 election voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 19 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

November 2019 edit

You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gibby1242. Thank you. livelikemusic talk! 22:31, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. livelikemusic talk! 01:50, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. livelikemusic talk! 03:03, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Britney Spears discography. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ad Orientem (talk) 03:23, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

What? edit

Why are you spreading false information? Gibby1242 (talk) 06:33, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

"What?" indeed. I blocked you for 24 hrs for edit warring. I reverted all of the edit warring from both parties, and left a crystal clear edit summary to stop it and take any proposed changes to the talk page for discussion.[1] And the very first edit you make after coming off block is to resume your edit warring. I don't think any reasonable person could look at that without concluding that you had basically decided that you were going to do what you want. That's not how things work around here and until I am satisfied that you grasp that, you will remain blocked. -Ad Orientem (talk) 06:44, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Okay first off clearly you and the other user who reported me to you does not know facts about Britney Spears, “It Should Be Easy” is NOT a single, it shouldn’t even be in the category of singles. Hence the reason why I’m FIXING it. Only 2 Singles were released which were “Work Bitch” & “Perfume” so maybe you and you’re little friend should start doing your research more. Clearly you lack a lot of info coming from Ms. Spears discography.

I have absolutely zero interest in whether your version of the article is accurate or not. I don't know and I don't care. You were edit warring. You were told to stop and you did not. You were blocked and warned again, and when the block expired you went right back to it. I am becoming increasingly convinced that you don't understand our editing guidelines. The only acceptable reasons for violating WP:3RR are... reverting vandalism, reverting naked copyright violations and reverting serious WP:BLP violations. That's it. All other disputes go to the talk page for discussion and resolution there. See WP:BRD, WP:DR and WP:CONSENSUS. The accuracy or lack thereof of claims in an article do not justify edit warring (conceding the just noted exceptions). I am about to go to bed as it is very late here. I suggest you consider things and if you want to be unblocked, read the guide to unblock requests linked in the most recent block notice and proceed from there. I will check back here tomorrow. -Ad Orientem (talk) 06:59, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

What? You both need to do your research, I didn’t do anything wrong except for fixing inaccurate information. It’s not edit warring if the other person has to cry to an admin because he or she thinks there right with spreading absolutely FALSE info. You both are a disgrace to Wikipedia.

Ok I am done here. If and when you are ready to request an unblock you have been told how to go about it. But absent a dramatic adjustment in demeanor, I'd say your odds are pretty close to zero. Otherwise I would encourage you to find another hobby. Good night. -Ad Orientem (talk) 07:15, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I was blocked for apparently edit warring after a certain user “Livelikemusic” started adding false information on the page of Britney Spears Discography, after trying to talk to them and tell them a certain song shouldn’t be in the category of “Singles” they refused to cooperate. I even tried to message them but all they did was delete my responses towards them, they have no factual information that this song was in fact a single, (I’m a huge Britney Spears fan, I absolutely know what songs are and aren’t singles) they them reported to an admin who indeffed me after I was blocked the first time for 24 hours, after my Block was lifted I went back to check on it and they repeatedly kept changing this information that is absolutely false, so I fixed it again. After that they immediately went to an admin who indeffed me for life. After talking to the admin they flat told me they didn’t care and told me I need to get a life. Not sure who runs this but that is absolutely pathetic who talks to someone like that? If you were to ask any Britney Spears Fan if this certain song “It Should Be Easy Ft Will.i.am” they will in fact tell you that this song is not a single. Hence the reason why I kept fixing there mistake. I really don’t consider this edit warring due to the fact that even on the album of “Britney Jean” there was no more than 2 singles released which were “Work Bitch and “Perfume”.

Decline reason:

Whether the content of your edits was correct or not is largely irrelevant to your block. You are blocked because your behaviour - reverting the article to your preferred version without discussion - was disruptive. In order to be unblocked, you will need to indicate your understanding of this, and explain what you will do to avoid becoming involved in such edit wars in the future. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I clearly state in my article I tried to talk to them but they declined my offer by deleting my responses every time. I even asked them if they can prove that this is indeed true and they couldn’t.

Nobody touched the article after it was restored to the status quo by Ad Orientem until you came off your block and restored your version again. And Ad Orientem clearly stated above that the undo had nothing to do with which version was correct, and everything to do with edit warring. You are trying to change the information on the page and it has been contested by another editor. It's up to you to take the issue to the talk page and attempt to get consensus for your change. And your unblock request has zero chance if you don't follow the instructions. Meters (talk) 21:48, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

You think this is a justification to lift your block, but you are mistaken. It's actually a justification to leave your block in place, so I do so. To understand why, read every part of the following: WP:NOR, WP:EW, WP:TRUTH, and WP:DISPUTE. The fact that you don't consider this edit warring is irrelevant. It was. If you want to have any chance of being unblocked, you will need to convince us you have read and thoroughly understood the four policies/guidelines I've linked you to. And you'll need to explain how specifically your edits and behaviour would be substantially different, if unblocked. Yamla (talk) 22:13, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Okay, After trying to talk to the other user and coming to an agreement, how am I supposed to do any of that if they won’t even attempt to talk to me? They literally kept deleting my comments towards them. I do agree that probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do but seriously take a look at the album “Britney Jean” only 2 singles are listed. “It Should Be Easy” Never was a single hence the reason why I kept fixing it. They didn’t even have a source to back up there claim.

Read WP:DR. -Ad Orientem (talk) 22:45, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have read through the 4 guidelines and rules, I apologize on my behalf for constantly correcting information. If unblocked I will no longer start wars or anything with anyone on here and I’m sorry. I will only make edits that are substantially needed. Thank you.

You need to discuss your concerns on the article talk page, citing reliable sources for any claims you are making. If you see claims in the article that you believe are erroneous you may tag those claims with {{CN}} to alert that a citation is needed. You can also discuss unsourced claims on the talk page. I am going to unblock you conditional on your not edit warring. Any further disruptive behavior will see you reblocked with great speed. -Ad Orientem (talk) 23:53, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been unblocked edit

Please read what I posted directly above as well as the various linked policies and guidelines that I and others have pointed you to. Your unblock is conditional on your not edit warring or otherwise behaving in a disruptive manner. -Ad Orientem (talk) 23:56, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked Account and IP edit

So I’m reviewing this report about me being blocked and I’m a bit confused on how I’m apparently abusing accounts. First off I made edits via my IP several times, after I became blocked for “Persistent addition of unsourced content” the edits I were doing was nothing to do with unsourced content. I was just fixing the number of shows on a certain singers tour/concert pages, I would sort the number into categories by the number of countries that were visited. Now a day later user “Livelikemusic” reverted every single edit I made and reported me that’s when I found out I was blocked on my IP. So I signed back into my account, mind you I have not been signed in for about a month now. That’s when I go on the users “Livelikemusic” talk page and ask why they keep changing it because every singers tour/concert pages are set up the same way divide into categories by countries. I explained that to her. And she reverted my “talk” to her and then reported me to an admin for Sockpuppetry. Like I’ve said before I haven’t been signed in to my account in over a month so all I did was sign in to question that to this user and she will not cooperate. Nope. See below. Any further unblock requests should be submitted via the WP:UTRS system. Given your behavior I would be strongly opposed to any unblock requests and seriously doubt any such request is likely to be granted. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:17, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

When you are blocked, you are blocked, not just the account or IP you were using. You are not allowed to edit using any account or IP for the duration of the block. What you did by editing during your block is WP:BLOCKEVASION Meters (talk) 22:37, 27 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

But I’m a bit confused on how I was adding unsourced content? You can’t add a source when it’s listed on Wikipedia itself. Like I previously said all I did was log in to my account to write on this users talk page but she always declines and plays the victim in this situation. Gibby1242 (talk) 22:43, 27 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • (talk page stalker) Noting that I am a HE not a SHE. Also to state, that I have stated — multiple times — why the changes were made, both on talk pages and in edit summaries, which continue to be ignored by the user. This does not mean they can openly sock on their account, which is disruptive and vandalism. The fact is you have admitted to be a sock-puppeter, and block evader, which means your one-month block is very lenient, however, I'd suspect admins might look into extended it to a perm-a-block, as this kind of behaviour is proven to not be stopped by you. livelikemusic talk! 13:38, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

You’re a female and you know it, you have repeatedly ignored every response I’ve sent out to you, stop trying to play the victim. Literally what you’re doing is you’ll remove every edit I make, then change it to your way. Then report me to an admin so it makes it look like I’m edit warring with you. I even tried reaching out to you on social media! You are in fact a female. Don’t play stupid with me. Several others have even said when people call you out on your lies you immediately block them. Quit acting like your always right. Gibby1242 (talk) 17:57, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
