Hi! You've recently added a really interesting looking external link on Prince Rupert of the Rhine's page, but I'm just getting a 404 error message when I click on it. You couldn't double check the link could you? Hchc2009 (talk) 18:03, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hopefully I have fixed the link. Sorry about that. It is an interesting text. Gamonetus (talk) 19:37, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nice one, yes it definitely works now - thanks, I'll enjoy reading those! Hchc2009 (talk) 07:36, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ghosts: European Renaissance to Romanticism

edit

I saw you just added some good content here, and by your edits are interested in this period of European history. Just a suggestion - take or leave it - perhaps you would be interested in starting a more extensive stand-alone article on the subject, which could be summarized in the main Ghost article? I have the feeling that if the main article is fully expanded to include a more global view (e.g. China, Japan, Mexico etc.) it is going to get enormous and incoherent, so it may be better to start evolving it towards more of a summary-style overview of the different aspects, each of which would be covered by separate articles that could grow freely. Completely up to you, obviously. Wherever it is placed, new content is valuable. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:40, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

You know how one thing leads to another. I was only trying to un-orphan Lavater, by including a reference to him in this obvious location. I then discover that the Ghost article is rather problematic. Your suggestion is a good one, but I don't think I will have the opportunity to act on it soon. I appreciate the positive feedback. Gamonetus (talk) 14:58, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understand. I sometimes find myself straying from one subject to completely a different one when trying to link things up. A few weeks ago an article on a Nigerian drum led quickly to an article on a village in the Georgian republic. Don't ask. Agreed that the article on Ghost needs a lot of improvement. License tagging for File:Johannes Oporinus.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Johannes Oporinus.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:05, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Herborn

edit

I was interested to see Herborn Academy. Early modern academia is a very worthwhile area, in my view, and I dabble in some German figures (recently Henning Arnisaeus, another was Christopher Besoldus which hardly scratches the surface). I'm more involved in British biography, but in the German direction there is a huge amount of basic work to do. Charles Matthews (talk)

Thanks for paying attention to this article. I have been rather surprised, over time, not to find a similar table elsewhere, since the overview of Renaissance classical scholarship seems quite useful. Charles Matthews (talk) 08:58, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of History of the Electorate of the Palatinate

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. You meant "Category", right? ;) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 13:38, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sure I did. This category will be a very useful organizational tool for this historical territory. Such pages already exist for existing German territories and a few defunct ones (e.g., Prussia). Gamonetus (talk) 13:42, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I thought so; so I made the Category :History of the Electorate of the Palatinate and this page can be Xed. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 13:44, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. (I think). I know more about the Electorate of the Palatinate than I do the nuances of editing categories.Gamonetus (talk) 13:49, 12 February 2011 (UTC) The other page will be deleted?Reply
Yeah. Since there noting on it. If you want to write about the topic, you can re-create it and do that later. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 13:53, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

To elaborate on this — to create Categories, you need to call the page "Category:XYZ". And to link to the German, you need put [[de:Kategorie:XYZ]] at the bottom. (I found de:Kategorie:Historisches Territorium (Rheinland-Pfalz). Looks useful.) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 14:02, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I was aware of that page too. It does not exactly correspond to the English page in development, but it should be linked. Perhaps I am missing something here. What exactly was wrong with my original category? Sorry to be dense.Gamonetus (talk) 14:06, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Now I think I see, I created a general page rather than a category page. As you say above, did not call it "Category:XYZ"Gamonetus (talk) 14:12, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. :) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 14:15, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
