Béla Horváth

edit

I propose to continue the discussion here for the sake of simplicity (at first, sorry for my poor English-language knowlegde). Your document collection is absolutely incredible: for now I checked them only superficially, however I can declare these are unique documents about a small slice of Hungarian history. Unfortunately, your grandfather is a totally unknown figure (anyway here is the full newspaper which contains his appointment as secretary of state): for instance, this publication does not know the date of your grandfather's death and the correct date of his birth. Even Prime Minister Géza Lakatos' memoir (Ahogyan én láttam; "As I saw it" in English) did not mention Béla Horváth by name. However Randolph L. Braham mentions Horváth here. I promise, I will read these documents in the upcoming days. If you do not mind I would like to type on a computer your grandfather's memoir, word by word (because of the credibility), remarking that your father has done an excellent translation. If you have some other photographs, could you scan those too? I'm a historian, if you don't mind, I can make contact with some experts whose research areas are the Horthy era and the Holocaust in Hungary. Best wishes, --Norden1990 (talk) 01:38, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much! I would be delighted if you typed out the memoir in Hungarian and contacted other experts. It is true, my grandfather's memoir and my father's excellent supplementary notes are quite remarkable, and we have always wondered why my grandfather seemed to be invisible in historical accounts. By a miracle, I also have a large collection of official and ephemeral documents and other artifacts pertaining not only to my grandfather's career but to the lives of his parents, grandparents and perhaps even beyond. I will scan some more photos. For the moment, I have uploaded (to the same link as before) three more pictures of my grandfather, a copy of his Oath of Office and the notice of his funeral. Thanks so much again for your interest and your efforts! (and thank you for the 1944 newspaper with the promotion announcement!) Best wishes, GH. --GH-1959 (talk) 13:17, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I almost forget it: there is an article about your family in the Hungarian Wikipedia. The famous Belle of the Anna-ball is also connected to the Horváth family. Your full name with noble titles is György Horváth de Szentgyörgy in English. --Norden1990 (talk) 14:33, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you again! Yes, we knew a little about the Horvath de Szentgyörgy connection and a few years ago we were trying to understand it with more precision. It is rather fun to have a noble title. Thanks for the Wikipedia link! And I didn't know about Anna-Ball. Very interesting! Thank you so much again. Best wishes, GH de Sz. :) --GH-1959 (talk) 08:58, 3 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I've uploaded two PDF documents about the History of Arad County (scan documents from a 19th century work). In the second document, you can find a portrait photo (p. 15, within the document itself: p. 39) about your great-grandmother's uncle, Gyula Szathmáry, who served as vicecomes (vice-ispán, deputy lieutenant, county chief etc.) of Arad County from 16 December 1889 to 28 June 1899. He was replaced by Lajos Nagy de Dálnok. --Norden1990 (talk) 01:25, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, thank you!!! This is amazing! Very cool. Nagyon szépen köszönöm!!! All the best, GH. GH-1959 (talk) 04:02, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Mr. Horvath! I did not forget my promise, I intend to publish somewhere Your grandfather's memoir (in a thematic blog or journal, but the previous one is more likely due written science journals' qualification conditions as I am not member of any academy or science institute), but nowadays I have little spare time because of studies (PhD thesis, then final exam and doctoral thesis defence etc.). Nevertheless I definitely would like to process Béla Horváth's legacy, and after that I will create a Hungarian and English Wikipedia article about Your grandfather based on published study (because Wikipedia does not approve Original research, so I cannot create here an article, overtaking the publication). Best regards --Norden1990 (talk) 02:33, 4 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Norden1990, Merry Christmas! I hope you are doing very well!! I created a small article about my grandfather, here: Dr. Bela Horvath. I would be delighted and very grateful if, at your convenience, you would consider improving this article! I put a few source materials here: [The life of Dr. Béla Horváth https://hungariantradition.wordpress.com/]. Thank you so very much!! All the best to you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I am glad to inform you that my article about your grandfather was accepted by a major Hungarian history online journal, based on the documents that you provided me several years ago. The article will be published in the next month, I hope. I have had a few limited unsuccessful attempts in previous years to have the letter published, but by now we might be able to reach this goal. When the study is displayed, I will create a Wikipedia article about Béla Horváth based on that source (unfortunately, WP do not accept primary and self-published sources, like your documents in a blog site). Best wishes, --Norden1990 (talk) 23:43, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
