Username issue

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Foss.productions", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent a Greek film production company. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   12:48, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, we are representatives of Foss Production the company and we created the Wikipedia account in order to provide more info and details around the products our company has produced. Do we still need to change the username? Foss.productions (talk) 12:55, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account. Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a change of username of your current account here. The new username must represent only yourself as an individual and comply with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Alexf(talk) 13:17, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have requested a change of username to comply with Wikipedia's policy. When will my account be unblocked? Foss.productions (talk) 13:55, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia users, including administrators who review unblock requests, are all volunteers who contribute when they can. There is no deadline to meet. Your request will be evaluated when an administrator has time to do so.
You also did not put in the new proposed username. You need to replace the "new username" part of your request in the {{unblock-un}} template with a username that represents you as an individual. Wikipedia accounts can only be accessed by one person and never be shared with other people. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:47, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Before you make any more edits

edit

You must comply with Wikipedia's mandatory and non-negotiable paid editing disclosure policy. That means you must clearly identify every article you edit where your company has some kind of affiliation. You can do that in either of these two ways, or ideally, both:

  1. On your userpage (User:Foss.Light), make a statement that you are paid on behalf of Foss Productions, and list all the articles you have edited/plan to edit which have a connection to your company. The {{paid}} template is an easy way to do this.
  2. Place the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template on the talk page of every article you edit on behalf of your company or its clients.

It is necessary for you to be completely transparent at all times about which articles you are editing on behalf of your company. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:08, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:FOSS PRODUCTIONS Logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:FOSS PRODUCTIONS Logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of Foss productions

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Foss productions, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2A00:23EE:1298:5F3E:448D:10FF:FEED:C245 (talk) 13:44, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Foss.Light. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. The page Foss productions has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

This article needs to be rewritten from scratch from reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not an outlet for promotion, advocacy, or advertising.

Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid can be located here and here, however be aware that this is not an exhaustive list. Pages can sometimes avoid these pitfalls and still be seen as an ad copy or unambiguously promotional, particularly if the editor appears to be a paid editor or has some other conflict of interest. Please review these policies, including the FAQ page on organizations to determine if this applies to you.

Common mistakes or beliefs about promotional editing center on the assumption that promotional editing only applies to promotion for commercial gain. Some tags or G11 nominations are met with confusion by creators, particularly if they spend much time reading or creating corporate documents, mission/vision statements, or similar copy for their organization. The frequent exposure to promotional tone may make it difficult to notice non-neutral phrases or styles, as the editor has grown accustomed to seeing it as everyday writing or speech. This can be difficult, but not impossible, to unlearn.

Another common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc. and CV/resumé's are by their nature promotional.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see this page on citing sources and Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). This page has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{Reflist}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there. New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the TEAHOUSE and on IRC chat, as well as Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure is a useful tutorial.

New article creation can be difficult and frustrating. Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:45, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I have read and understood the policies of wikipedia. My intentions are not promotional and I only wish to provide wikipedia users valuable informations about topics such as film and series. Please unblock me.

Decline reason:

Your understanding is not at all evident, considering what you placed in the now deleted Foss productions, as promotional an attempt at an article as I've ever seen. Just the opening paragraph has more than a half-dozen promotional bits. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 15:20, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
