Speedy deletion nomination of Nigeria Technology Awards edit

Hello Felixnnuji,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Nigeria Technology Awards for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TushiTalk To Me 13:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Nigeria Technology Awards requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.nigeriatechnologyawards.com/the-awards/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa (talk) 21:59, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Nigeria Technology Awards edit

Good Day,

Thanks for the information, i am the event co-ordinator of Nigeria Technology Awards, Attached are pictures from the last event that took place.

We need to have a page on Wikipedia but we don't have any knowledge on how to compose it.

We will appreciate any assistance.

Regards!

Hello Felixnnuji. Before I respond to your inquiry, I'd like to mention a couple of things. First, please put all new comments at the bottom of the page. That will keep the messages in sequential order. Second, please sign your posts by typing four tilde characters (~~~~) at the end of your comments. That will automatically insert your username with the date and time. It's important for people to keep track of who said what and when.
Now, let me begin by saying that you do not need a page on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place for you to publicize your organization, so that should not be your intention. That's why we discourage people from writing about their own organizations - it's called a conflict of interest. You can find out more about why at Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. As well, if you are in a paid position with the organization you're writing about, you must disclose this fact per Wikipedia's policy on paid editing.
As I mentioned on the article talk page, Wikipedia is seletive about the topics it includes. Just because something exists doesn't mean that it's notable - it must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion. Your organization must have already received significant coverage in reliable third-party sources to demonstrate that it is notable enough for inclusion. --Drm310 (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I nominated your user page for deletion because it does not conform to Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself and your Wikimedia-related activities. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking site, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV/resumé or lengthy autobiography. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 19:01, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
