Hi, I was wondering if you could advise on the accurate English transliteration of the Arabic name كبابة and كبابه ? Different sources give different transliterations, some vary widely. what? there must be some misunderstanding. i thought koavf made a good presentation of why one should be suspicious against vague phrases in less-than-serious news articles (such as that one from arabicnews.com), and then i wanted to make it clear that i support the moroccan claims to ceuta, melilla, perejil etc (for the same reason i don't support the claims to western sahara, i.e. justice). it was not aimed in any way at daryou, or you, or anyone else. okay, maybe i took a little snipe at linguistic chauvinism with the "northern provinces" thing, but that wasn't too bad... i'm sorry if you got the wrong impression. Hello FayssalF, I wonder if you could help me with an arabic term which I need to have clear for an article I have in mind writing. The word is ra´îs or rais. I didn't know who to ask, and I couldn´t find anything refering to this word neither in wikipedia or the internet. I know it's the name of some sort of chief, leader, king??? This might seem rather trivial, but in the Simpsons article the transliterations offered for the name of the show in Arab countries don't seem to me to match the name in Arabic script. An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

I added the following passage to the "Criticism of Islam" article part "Domestic violence" ( based on what I found in http://www.islamawareness.net/Wife/beating1.html.)

"Some other scholars argue that the Arabic word used in 4:34 is "idribuhunna" is derived from "daraba" which literally means "beat", or "go abroad", or "give" in the sense to give or provide an example. Thus the word "idribuhunna" could mean to "leave" them. They add that for example in the same chapter the word "darabtum", which is derived from the word "daraba", is used to mean to "go abroad"."

I am not good in arabic, but could you please check whether the logic makes sense or not. I am not confident.

Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Hello, I saw that you are a native speaker of Arabic, so I would like to ask you if you could take a look at 2003 invasion of Iraq and Iraq War. There is a featured article in Arabic which we would like to know how it could be used the English one which is of course dominated by people who have either been there as soldiers or have their knowledge from western media. Someone also asked if the section about "related propaganda and phrases" could be amplified with information about the Iraqi side.
