The Girl

edit

Sorry, but we really can't use the definitive biography of Truffault in this article as that would cbe considered original research because it has nothing to do with the film itself. To include it you'd really need to find an article that discusses it within the context of the film, which may be possible as the film has generated a lot of column inches. But regardless of whether or not such an article is available, you can always add this information to Tippi Hedren's article if you haven't already done so, or even to Hitchcock's. Why don't you write an article about Spoto's book rather than adding to the film article? It was something I overlooked when I was working on the article, but there seems to be loads of stuff about it. Paul MacDermott (talk) 20:19, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I won't revert you again, as I don't wish to become embroiled in an edit war, and you clearly seem unprepared to discuss the matter. For what it's worth, you still don't appear to be getting the idea of how to add information to articles. Any source needs to discuss the topic of the title, which in this case is the film The Girl and not the allegations Hedren made against Hitchcock. While the book has a lot to say on that issue, it predates the film, so cannot be used as a reference without risking allegations of original research. Otherwise, why not add a source that says The Birds was released in 1963, or use some other source that touches on this topic. Your other problem is that you're adding lengthy quotations which could present copyright issues. You look like a fairly new user, so I suggest you take a look at our guidelines on how to write articles. The links below should help you to get started and find your way around. December 2013 - The Girl 3RR warning

edit

Your recent editing history at The Girl shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Gothicfilm (talk) 20:30, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's ok, don't feel too bad about it. I should probably have added the welcome template yesterday, which might have avoided all the fuss. The information you added from National Enquirer and the FT seems fine, although I haven't checked them closely. With articles like this one that have been assessed as good or featured content it's often a good idea to mention any manor changes you want to make on the talkpage first. Someone will usually have it on their watchlist, so will be able to give feedback on any potential new material. I still think an article about the Spoto book might be worth writing as I believe it generated a lot of interest, so if you want to give it a go I'd be happy to read through it. Good luck anyway, and give me a shout if you need any help. Paul MacDermott (talk) 23:57, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
