Overlinking

edit

Hallo, thanks for responding to the "underlinked" tag on Nik Spatari, but please read MOS:OVERLINK to see when not to link. Common words, nationalities, etc don't need links. I've reverted your changes but will reinstate a few. Thanks. PamD 07:44, 14 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Care needed

edit

I just had a look at your first edit. What you "corrected" as a "spelling error" is a UK spelling: it was used in a quote from a British publication.

  1. Never change the spelling or other wording of a quote, unless you have evidence that it has been misquoted. (If it is really badly spelled in the original you can add " [sic]" to say "Yes, that really is what they said even if it was wrong").
  2. American English is used in articles on American topics, British on British topics, and so on. If an article is about a topic linked to no English-speaking country, the language used in the article generall reflects the choices of the first main author of the article. This is an international encyclopedia, not an American one.

There's a lot to learn about editing the encyclopedia but it's an interesting journey. Happy Editing! PamD 11:16, 14 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
