Christian Bird edit

A tag has been placed on Christian Bird, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --ArmadilloFromHell 22:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Puente2.jpg listed for deletion edit

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Puente2.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sandstein 21:32, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note edit

PLease do not keep blanking this page, it forms part of you edit history. --ArmadilloFromHellGateBridge 03:49, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

What do I do if I want it blanked? Why does this matter? - Ethicalhacker 03:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Other people may want to know if you are a reliable editor. Editing with other people requires conversation. If you delete what other people say to do, that suggests you don't welcome conversation. EdJohnston 00:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Or it might just be that I've already taken that advice and want to clean up that page. What's the harm in that? Ethicalhacker 16:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

How to watch RSS (file format) edit

Hello Ethicalhacker. You left a comment on Talk:RSS (file format) asking to add RSS to your watchlist. You can do this yourself just by going to the page and clicking on the 'Watch' tab which is near the top right of your screen. EdJohnston 00:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

RSS edit

Thanks for the info above. I'm new around here and I like to learn. I was really interested in getting a URL to the RSS feed so I could feed it into another reader, but it looks like that isn't possible like it is on many other watched pages. Do you know much about RSS URL's? Ethicalhacker 05:02, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

This item [1] claims that you can get an Atom feed for changes to any WIkipedia page, but I haven't tried it. EdJohnston 13:31, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Still having some trouble getting this to work. I think that it's because it's a special page that is probably dynamic in nature, and likely not a good candidate for RSS feed. If you can figure out how to get your watchlist to come up as an RSS, please let me know. I would love to be able to do this. Thanks for helping. - Ethicalhacker 16:12, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Digg edit

I'll let you know, let me find the reference. Ethicalhacker 16:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

California WikiProject edit

Welcome to the California WikiProject. If you have any questions about the project, or the Wikipedia in general, feel free to contact me. BlankVerse 06:02, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please chime in if you have a view edit

There's an interesting experience going on over at WikiProject California, and WikiProject Southern California.

Some time ago, WikiProject California members had placed their project tags on all articles about California cities. Those tags have been in place for some time. Recently certain members of WikiProject Southern California, after discussion on that project's talk page (only), decided to remove the WikiProject California tags for (almost all) Southern California cities, and replace the tags with WikiProject Southern California tags - only.

That is, the WikiProject Southern California members didn't simply add the WikiProject Southern California tag to Southern California cities, the WikiProject California tags were completely removed. This was done apparently without consultation with the WikiProject California members.

We are gathering responses to the following questions on those projects' talk pages:

  • Do you have a view whether the WikiProject California tag should be removed from a large number of cities in Southern California?
  • Do you have a view whether city article for Southern California cities should have more than one WikiProject tag?

Please let us know if you have a view! Spamreporter1 16:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject California roll call edit

Hello from WikiProject California!

As part of a recent update to our project main page we are conducting a roll call to check which members are still active and interested in working on California related content. If you are still interested in participating, simply move your username from the inactive section of the participant list to the active section. I hope you will find the redesigned project pages helpful, and I wanted to welcome you back to the project. If you want you can take a look at the newly redesigned:

As well as the existing pages:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask at the project talk page, and add it to your watchlist, if it isn't already.

Central Valley edit

Hi there, I've just joined the California Wikiproject. I'm dropping you a note because I notice you're interested in the Valley. I am interested in working with a group of editors to improve the Central Valley's Wikipedia presence. For example, the Central Valley (California) article is assessed "top importance" but has the lowest possible quality rating. You seem especially interested in water infrastructure. I'm a student of water law and would like to better highlight the role of water in the Valley, especially the CVP/SWP. If you're willing to help with ideas or writing, then by all means drop by the project talk page: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_California. Thanks! ferretstew (talk) 09:39, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
