June 2019 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to U.S. ISDE Team, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Dennis Bratland (talk) 15:21, 12 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violation of images edit

I noticed your contributions to Wikipedia some weeks ago. This is just a courtesy message to inform you that I have raised a query at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright#Multiple copyvio images regarding six out of nine of your image uploads where I suspect you do not hold rights to. These are mainly historic, eg File:Dan Gurney 1959 FIA Ferarri USA Helmet.png which appears to be from a famous UK museum, File:ISDE Helmets 1973.jpg sems to have been copied from a magazine or similar, File:2016 ISDE Team.jpg may have been by Steven Berkner, and File:1st silver vase team.jpg.

The source-attribution shown is insufficient, and these may be deleted. I am not experienced-enough to become directly involved, but it will be down to experienced image-volunteers. They will no doubt alert you in due course. I realise this may be due to your inexperience - Wikipedia calls this good faith, in that you thought you were doing right. Actually, I am surprised it's not been picked up before now. By right-click copying or scanning, this does not make it a work that you own the rights to.

Wikipedia (and it's image repository Wikimedia Commons) can only host images that are free-to-all for re-use, under certain licensing conditions, requiring attribution to the original; the image owners need to release that usage-right by annotation to the image at source. This is to protect the Wikimedia Foundation against litigation.

I have checked some of your prose added to what is almost-exclusively dirt-racing articles, and these too are lacking sourcing; please note that Wikipedia content should be backed by stated published sources, preferrably secondary sources. If you are the same Erek Kudla as seen in this Google search it would appear that you have a conflict of interest as you are stated to be associated with the AMA. Please note that Wikipedia has policies on promotion. Lastly, thanks for the info on skunk stripe, which I'd never heard of.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 21:16, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
