Welcome edit

Hello, Emlillyjo and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! —Skyllfully (talk | contribs) 02:48, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Image copyrights on Maureen Bradley edit

Hi Emlillyjo, I'm Adam Hyland, the Wiki Ed content expert assigned to your course. You've uploaded two images (File:Two 4 One Premier.jpg and File:Maureen Bradley.jpg) which look like they are probably under copyright. They are sourced to blogs, neither of which indicate that they've released the images under a free license. Photos uploaded to Wikimedia commons need to be able to be re-used widely without restriction. Almost all photos on the internet are copyrighted (remember that published works are copyrighted by default, something with a free license will say so explicitly), consequently, you have to verify the license before you upload the photo. You can see our guide for illustrating wikipedia here.

If those sites have released the image under a free license, they should have some text or page indicating that (I did see an 'all rights reserved' notice on the main page for the Victoria International Film Festival, but not on the blog, though again, that's the default status for published works). If you can't find one I'm happy to help, but if we can't verify the license, these images should be deleted from Wikimedia Commons. Please let me know if you need any help. Thanks, Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:51, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • I've nominated the two images for deletion. This process can take a few days and you may get a notification on Commons that it has been started. If the images are free content, updating the source and license information can stop the process or the images can be re-uploaded if you can verify their license. Again, let me know if you need a hand finding other images of the subject or working with a photographer to get them to donate a photo under a free license.
