apparent copypaste and conflict of interest

edit

I call your attention to WP:COI, and WP:Copyright. Apparently the entire text for this article appeared on your user page at a single edit. The details given, including the very detailed history of who sat on what committee that approved every phase of the building, are those typically found found in publication put out by the institution concerned--and are not really of any encyclopedic value. The lack of a lead paragraph with just a page title, and the lack of mention until quite far down in the page just what university it is where the library is located also indicate copying. Publicity brochures are written that way, not Wikipedia articles.

If you're a librarian there, as would seem very likely, I welcome you as my colleague to Wikipedia . There's a great deal of work to be done. that librarians can do. See WP:WikiProject Libraries It is usually a good idea to work on articles outside ones own institution. at least until you know how to do it according to our rules for Copyright , and our practices for the sort of content included. If you do wish to wortk on local topics, every successive director of the main university library at OSU is probably appropriate for an article, as are all the university faculty with distinguished chairs--see WP:PROF, That's what i do about my own university, Princeton--I just work on the faculty a little, but spend most of my time here on other things where ZI'm in a good position to gather resources. John A. Prior Health Sciences Library

edit

Please have a look at your move request at Talk:John A. Prior Health Sciences Library. A couple of users have proposed the alternative title of Prior Hall for the article. If you would like to comment on that as a title, whether you support it or oppose it, please do so at the move request. Thanks!  — Amakuru (talk) 23:23, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Old orchard beach taxpayers association

edit

Hello Ehschnell,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Old orchard beach taxpayers association for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Old orchard beach taxpayers association

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Old orchard beach taxpayers association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://oobta.weebly.com/board-members.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Schazjmd (talk) 23:34, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
