It is almost never suitable to copy content from another web site to Wikipedia, as you did at Draft:Christopher Marquis, for more than one reason, the most important being copyright. When you post anything to Wikipedia you release it for anyone in the world to reuse it, either unchanged or modified in any way whatever, subject to attribution to Wikipedia. It is very rare that the owner of a web site licenses content for such very free reuse, and in those few occasions when they do so, we require proof of the fact. We don't assume that content is freely licensed on the unsubstantiated say so of just anyone who comes along and creates a Wikipedia account. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:45, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@JamesBWatson: Thank you for letting me know. The individual in question is my employer and asked me to create a Wikipedia page for him, based on a draft he put together using his own websites, in anticipation of his new book coming out later this year. I see that you've now deleted the page I created. Are you able to restore it? What proof do you need from him to ensure that it's not deleted again? I also hope you don't mind me saying this, but it did feel a bit harsh to fully delete the page without asking me for proof first, or without just flagging the citations and asking for new ones. Thank you, again, for letting me know and I hope we can easily figure this out. I would, of course, happily re-phrase parts of it if need be - I was just using my employer's preferred copy. Since you have been writing about someone you work for, you should read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline before doing any more editing. Wikipedia policy is that content which lacks evidence of free licensing is deleted, and can be restored only if proof is provided. I had no part in making that policy, but it seems to me to make sense, since as long as we allow content to remain in place we are giving everyone in the world permission to freely reuse it, and if in fact it is not freely licensed that would be problematic. As for "flagging the citations and asking for new ones", the citations were no part of the reason for deletion, so that would not be relevant. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:17, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@JamesBWatson: How can I provide proof, if you don't mind me asking? Or, should I just be paraphrasing? I will disclose my COI. Effiesap (talk) 15:20, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Information about how to release copyright for use of material on Wikipedia is at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. However, I see that since you posted the above message you have recreated the draft with the text rewritten, so you may no longer need that information. Help me!

edit

I would like to know when I should expect my drafted wikipedia page to be published!

Effiesap (talk) 21:21, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

The draft was never submitted for a review. I have added a messagebox with a "Submit your draft for a review" button you can use, but in its current form it would likely not be accepted because its tone is promotional and it cites no reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
