Availability to help in a dispute?

edit

Editor at Large, I'm trying to help improve the quality of the facts in a series of pages that involve the history of the Jewish Chasidic movement. I'm not a chasid, just a very knowledgeable historian who has a large number of quality resources and references available to add. However, I'm getting hammered by some fanatical chasids who don't want to listen to facts or reason. I stepped into a political nightmare here and all I want to do is get the information right. These fanatics think they own all the facts. Nor are they recognizing the references and facts I'm presenting in what I believe to be a neutral manner. These folks keep undoing my work and basically ganging up on me and my contributions. I'm not saying that I'm always right. But I don't have a particular agenda other than getting the best information into Wiki as possible.

Can you please help me? I'm not asking you to agree with my point of view, but can you please keep an eye on this dispute and maybe help tone these fanatics down? I'm relatively new to Wiki contributions (a lurker for about a year) and would appreciate all the advice you are willing to give.

For a starting point, take a look at this page. This same dispute affects something like 5 or 6 pages of similar material.

Thanks in advance for you kind assistance! --Klezmer 14:41, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was hoping to exhaust other dispute resolution methods before we got to this stage. I've already posted a "Request for Comment", hoping it would lead to a more rational discussion. But alas, I've been personally attacked for doing so. I was hoping others would step in and tone these guys down. It hasn't happened. I'm not exactly sure the correct escalation process, as this has never happened to me before on Wiki. Is mediation the next step? --Klezmer 05:53, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The problem isn't Hasidic fanatics -- the problem is Klezmer who ignores any facts or published works that he doesn't agree with or which don't support his agenda, and won't compromise, so he arbitrarily just keep deleting/reverting and wants the articles to reflect just his own opinion/views despite the comments and input of others who are more knowledgeable than he is about the facts. --ChosidFrumBirth 21:35, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I haven't gotten around to thanking everybody yet... :( Here's a quick hug and a kiss, and a big thank you for the message and the support :) – riana_dzasta 09:52, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Boo!

Hi Ayelie, just to let you know that you have more messages. And shouldn't that be "danseuse à coeur"? --Kyoko 12:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it should. Oops. :-) Thank you. Deco 20:36, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think "Danseuse au fond" is more correct, but then you lose the whole heart thing. --Kyoko 03:23, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are still listed on the Admin coaching request page

Your name is still listed at Requests for an admin coach. If you are no longer looking for a coach, or you currently have one, please remove yourself from that list. Thank you. The Transhumanist   00:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

New name

edit

No, I just looked at my username and thought 'God, that's dumb, it doesn't mean anything, and it doesn't even work properly on MediaWiki', so I decided to change it :) Plus, as Sarah says, it's very Cher. Maybe you should start a poll on your userpage asking for new username suggestions? :) – riana_dzasta 16:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You should be "Small Medium at Large" (and say on your user page "No, I'm not a dwarf criminal psychic") :P. Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 18:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Leave it to Will—he'll always think of something…different. :P —  $PЯINGrαgђ  18:51, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I... uh... didn't think of that one :) Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 18:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Who says I'm not a dwarf criminal psychic? I'm a skinny studying-to-be-a-criminal-psychologist... — Editor at Large(speak) 21:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're not dwarfish, from what I remember you told me about your height. Then again, small could also mean skinny. But still... you could be a mediator, that'd make you a medium, and I love a happy medium. Plus, I think you being on medcom would be a good idea :) Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 08:29, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would have to ditto that. :) —  $PЯINGrαgђ  18:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

please subst your sig

edit

Hi there, I wanted to let you know that you should subst your sig instead of copying it (transcluding it?) onto various messages. While substing your sig will leave a lot of code on talk pages, etc., it will also preserve your signature in case someone decides to vandalise the original template. Substing is also easier on the wiki servers.

I'm sad to see that Elara decided to leave, but I can't say I blame her, and part of me is tempted to leave too.

How are you? E-mail me, please. --Kyoko 21:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmm? My sig isn't copied or transcluded... Oh, unless you're referring to old ones. My sig was set up for a bit so it would just make a transclusion like so {{User:Editor at Large/sig}} when I signed ~~~~, which would show up as my signature; I wasn't adding the template intentionally. It doesn't do that anymore, never fear :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 22:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
You had transcluded your sig on my userpage, and I subst'ed it in my last revision, so that's why I brought it up. --Kyoko 19:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

my user name change

edit

Hi E@L, I wanted to let you know that I've filed a username change request, so hopefully within the next week, my account will have been transferred to User:Kyoko.

I hope that things are getting better for you. Things are mixed for me, but e-mail's probably a better place for further discussion. --Kyoko 15:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Tachikoma now User:Kyoko

edit

Hi there!
My account usurpation has been completed, but it had the unfortunate side effect of making my userpage begin with "User:Kyoko (usurped)". At least to me. I reinserted my purple header to hide that, but I would really rather that the (usurped) didn't appear at all, because I think it looks a little ugly. Maybe it's only visible to me and not to other people. I guess you'll have to look at prior revisions to see for yourself.

I hope you're doing better. --Kyoko 15:38, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
