Image Tagging for Image:Honeycombs-lp-65.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Honeycombs-lp-65.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:Angry-young-them.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Angry-young-them.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 14:42, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.

  • Pick an image name.
When uploading an image, pick a file name that is descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
  • Source the image.
On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
  • Provide copyright and license information.
This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Wikipedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Wikipedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Wikipedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
  • Describe the image.
To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

Versions of articles in other languages edit

Hi. In this edit I notice you removed links to versions of the articles in other languages inappropriately in the Odeon Records article. I assume this was an accident or mistake. Hope this helps, -- Infrogmation 19:06, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tom Jones edit

Your latest edit to Tower Records (record label) makes it sound as though Jones didn't have any releases on Tower. Is that true? If so, he shouldn't even be mentioned in the article. —Chowbok 21:25, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit Summary edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --Geniac 15:06, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please use Edit Summary edit

I have noted that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! --Geniac 17:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Joe Meek at list of blue plaques edit

I removed Joe Meek from the "London/English Heritage" section of list of blue plaques because we was not listed at the English Heritage website ([1]) and because you did not provide a reference. Joe Meek is already listed in the "other similar plaques" section of list of blue plaques, although information and references are missing from the entry.

Can you provide more information on Joe Meek's plaque? We are currently guessing that it is not an English Heritage plaque, but we have no other information. Could you also provide a reference? Thank you, Dr. Submillimeter 14:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article Judas Jump has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. J Milburn 19:38, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Fancy (band) edit

A tag has been placed on Fancy (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wikiman53 t a 13:00, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Bomp-mag-10-11.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bomp-mag-10-11.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Fritz (band) edit

A tag has been placed on Fritz (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.

-Bbik 09:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Green Tambourine edit

Hey... just a note to ask you to please be careful with page moving. Please don't do cut & paste jobs, as you did moving the Green Tambourine album.... this breaks up the edit history. Normally the album would get the non-disambiguated title and then the song would be disambiguated with "(song)", so in this particular case there was no need to move anything. - eo 17:31, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reach for the Stars (song) edit

A tag has been placed on Reach for the Stars (song), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Your edits to Strawbs template edit

Hi there. I noticed that you had amalgamated the "All our own work" album with "Sandy and the Strawbs". I own both these albums and they are different (track listing and also arrangements). I am proposing to revert this particular edit but will await your comments. I also note that Sandy Denny has been removed from the "former members list". May I ask why you have done this? Best regards Witchwooder 10:34, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Strawbs related articles edit

Hi again. I have noticed that you have changed the format of some album names in the chronology. If you refer to WP:ALBUM I think you will find that they were correct as they were. You also refer to the band as THE Strawbs - this is incorrect, apart from quoting from album titles such as Sandy Denny and the Strawbs. I also notice that you seem to have confused the latter album with All Our Own Work (see previous comment). These two albums are distinct and have differing track listings and I intend to create an article for the former. See Talk:All Our Own Work for a discussion of other issues concerning these albums. Best regards Witchwooder 13:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. I notice that you have again edited Sandy Denny and the Strawbs, changing recording dates and the artist. I have tried to involve you in the discussion about this but you have not responded. There is a discrepancy between the sleeve liner notes for All Our Own Work and the Hannibal Records release regarding the actual recording dates. The Pickwick notes (and Strawbs website) record the date as August 1968, whereas the Hannibal CD cover simply states "The original 1967 sessions". I would think that it is more likely to be the 1968 date - but I sugest that the discrepancy is made part of the article (I will do this now!). With regards to the artist name - Strawbs have never been known as "Sandy Denny and the Strawbs", this was probably a marketing ploy on behalf of Pickwick and later Hannibal to capitalise on the Denny name (I have put this in the article). Sandy Denny was recruited as Strawbs' singer - the band were never her backing band (she was not an established artist at the time of the recordings). Please do not keep changing this. I have also corrected the link to Denmark (NOT Danmark) as this is an English language article. (Danmark is a redirect.) Best Witchwooder 08:54, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Peter & Gordon edit

Re A World Without Love, I don't know whether it should be Peter and Gordon or Peter & Gordon. The Wikipedia article is named "Peter & Gordon" and so linking to the "and" version causes a redirect. I assume there has been discussion about how to name that page and if so, Peter & Gordon is probably the preferred form. I'll stop reverting you because I don't really care about this but IMO you should investigate and either use the & form or change the links to use the text you want but avoid the redirect, i.e., [[Peter & Gordon|Peter and Gordon]]. Sandy Denny and the Strawbs edit

Hi E-Kartoffel, I notice that yet again you have added a Sandy Denny chronology to this article and changed the names of the performers. I have written to you about this before but I will restate what I know to be true about this matter. This is NOT a Sandy Denny album. At the time that the tracks were recorded, Sandy was a member of Strawbs. The name appearing on the album cover is there as a marketing ploy only (the original version of the recordings were released just after Strawbs' success with "Part of the Union" and Sandy's high profile contribution to "Battle of Evermore" on Led Zepellin IV). The album should not appear as a Sandy Denny album, any more than the Fairport Convention albums she contributed to. Please don't just reinstate this without discussion. Hi again,

Eric Burdon and Animals edit

Hi. You're doing good work on these articles, but you are making a mistake by changing the article titles of songs and albums from using "The Animals" in the disambig part to "Eric Burdon". These were songs and albums by Eric Burdon and The Animals, which was a name for The Animals that happened to highlight their lead singer. These are NOT Eric Burdon solo songs or albums, which came later after his time with War. ALL of The Animals' work is put under The Animals categories, and the disambig phrases should also stay consistent. Wasted Time R 19:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Again, Category:Eric Burdon albums should not contain Animals albums or War albums. In both those cases, the group was The Animals or War, and Burdon was highlighted in the group's name as lead singer. Burdon's solo career does not begin until after his time with War. Wasted Time R 19:48, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Animals and Eric Burdon and The [New] Animals are two different eras of the same band, with Burdon and Jenkins carrying over. Every music source and discography treats these as all parts of The Animals, see All Music Guide at [2], or Rolling Stone at [3]. Nobody treats the second era as Eric Burdon solo work. Wasted Time R 20:10, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't want to get into edit battles, but your changes in this area go completely against reliable sources and common practice in this area, and I will revert them this evening. Please don't continue doing pointless changes. Wasted Time R 20:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The URL you pointed to, [4], is a deliberately incomplete history of the band. (He's embarrased about the EB&TA era, perhaps.) I am very familiar with the history of the band, and what you are doing is not in accordance with how reputable music sources treat the band's full 1960s history. Wasted Time R 20:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, please write on my talk page, not my user page. Wasted Time R 20:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Shadows-same-61.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 18:23, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No content in Category:People from The Dingle, Liverpool edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:People from The Dingle, Liverpool, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:People from The Dingle, Liverpool has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:People from The Dingle, Liverpool, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Froots-mag.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Froots-mag.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:20, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ian A. Anderson edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Ian A. Anderson, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. This song was a duet written by Van Morrison, who does not have "HIs" whole discography displayed on the song article. This is supposed to be an enclyopedia, not a showcase for someones's favorite artist. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Over-under-sideways-frg.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Over-under-sideways-frg.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:41, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please Use Edit Summaries edit

Hi there.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Speedy deletion of Lucky Lips edit

A tag has been placed on Lucky Lips requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A Life in the Death of Joe Meek edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article A Life in the Death of Joe Meek, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of A Life in the Death of Joe Meek. Bob Knight (basketball) edit

I moved the article back to Bob Knight. The addition of extra text in parentheses is normally only necessary if an article already exists at a location and a subsequent article needs to be created. See Mike Leach as an example. There are three articles: Mike Leach (a college football coach), Mike Leach (American football), and Mike Leach (tennis). Usually, but not always, the one without parentheses is the most well-known of the group simply because the higher profile the subject, the sooner an article often gets created. →Wordbuilder (talk) 20:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mickey Gallagher edit

Hi. I notice you moved this article (which I created) to "Mick Gallagher", citing a Blockheads site as a reference. Hi. I'm wondering why you moved this page? There are no other articles with this title, so disambiguation is not necessary. Are you creating a new article for a non-Beyonce-related "B'Day"?
