March 2020 edit

Hello, I'm ToBeFree. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Hydroxychloroquine because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:17, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hydroxychloroquine edits edit

You are a new editor here, yet seem insistent on not reading or providing edit summaries. This edit is your opinion, not supported by WP:MEDRS reviews, uses in vitro data which are now not a topic (the drug has use-approvals, and the source used is lab research too preliminary for an encyclopedia), and you give your opinion about what's important on Youtube. We don't cite Youtube, as the source may be copy-protected and is not a reliable WP:SECONDARY review of a topic, WP:YT, especially for drugs and medicine. Please discuss first on the talk page why you feel this is important, and get consensus there, WP:CON., and try to find peer-reviewed high-quality sources per WP:MEDREV. Also, do not edit war, WP:3RR. --Zefr (talk) 19:18, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

You said: "In major medical emergencies, it is urgent that the available facts be debated. An urgent debate needs to take place on the following questions: Is it more dangerous to wait for clinical trials (which could take weeks/months before offering prevention to nurses, doctors, firemen and paramedics and who are already in great danger), and if a patient is at extreme risk by reason of their medical condition (such as immunosuppression) and if they don't have any of the contraindications (forbidden situation) listed by the manufacturer then is it better to wait for research on prevention? As you know, COVID-19 is ripping through nursing homes and killing people in numbers. The true spirit of Wikipedia is to foster debate. I understand that under normal circumstances you want to see a published clinical trial, but this could be dangerous to the public. I recommend that you allow me to list the 5, or so, best scientific papers. I agree to refrain from youtube videos. I suggest that if a proper disclaimer is added, then it is reasonable under these special circumstances to include certain information. I assume you have no objections to posting information about regulatory announcements, information from highly credible resources, and a list of trials in-progress so that interested parties can track new scientific information as it becomes available." Wikipedia has policies against creating a forum for current events --> WP:NOTFORUM and WP:RECENTISM. Remind yourself that this is an encyclopedia, not a news site, WP:NOTNEWS. Any drug or medical article can be updated with WP:MEDRS reviews. It seems the discussion about hydroxychloroquine should be about its potential approvable uses, after clinical trials or more experience are completed. The article is adequately updated. You can begin any discussion on the talk page, as long it is about improving the article, and is not about your opinion for what is important now. --Zefr (talk) 20:54, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Important, and possibly only, warning edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The specific details of these sanctions are described here.

Broadly, general sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

While the above message normally "does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions", there have been issues with your contributions, as described above, and in my reply to your message at User talk:ToBeFree. Please be more careful when editing about this topic. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:24, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Objection edit

Hi Drganand.13, thanks for your message. To quickly note this before any bad ideas happen: I strongly object to any further edits to the article by you, if they are made in this promotional spirit. I highly recommend avoiding any further edits to the article before you have reached a consensus on the article's talk page. Discussions on individual user talk pages are not a sufficient alternative to a proper article discussion. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:11, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
