Thanks for your new draft of a pearl mussel species, Draft:Western pearlshell edit

Dear Dpkennedy, I see you are preparing a draft of an article about a freshwater pearl mussel. We are very happy to have a new editor who is interested in biology. I hope you don't mind, I went into your draft and added a taxobox, a few links and a heading, as well as setting up the intro in the way that is standard for bivalve mollusks. I am happy to help you with any other aspect of this draft until it is ready for submission, for example, knowing how to set up the references may be hard for you to work out at first, but if you drop in (copy and paste) the bare lists of the references that you used at the bottom of the article I will format them for you if you like. Please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page if you would welcome some more help. All very best wishes and welcome to Wikipedia. Invertzoo (talk) 17:18, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

P.S. The draft is pretty much ready to be submitted, as soon as we can add the references. As I said, if you can list them plain and simple at the bottom, I can then convert them for you in to inline citations, it is not hard to do once you know how. Many thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 17:27, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

Thanks so much Dpkennedy for listing four of the needed references for the article on the pearl mussel. Today I turned the refs you had listed into proper inline citations (as you will see if you look on the edit page), but I did not put them into place in the text yet, because honestly in this case I think it will be easier to prepare all of the references in advance and then add them all in to the right places once they are ready. Does that sound OK to you? If you could add the ones that are currently missing, that would be great. I can help you along with the rest of preparing the article as much as you need, no problem. Thanks again, Invertzoo (talk) 13:29, 29 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rest of the references? edit

Hello Dpkennedy, is there any chance you could simply list the other references that you used when you researched the draft of the Western Pearlshell article? if so, I can finish it up and it can be submitted. It will certainly be accepted. I think you may have done the last few edits without logging in (someone did anyway), so I will leave a message on the talk page for that account too. Many thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 13:28, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I'm still slowly working my way through, this being my first article and done in chance moments. In fact, not sure this is how conversation is to occur between us. The information that I have out on this site is from a un-copywrited field guide and I'm hoping to contact the authors with a request before publishing this information. 12:41, 8 September 2014‎ Dpkennedy (talk | contribs)‎

Thanks for replying to my note Dpkennedy, I appreciate it. Yes, this is probably the best way for you and I to converse (either here on your talk page or over on my talk page), unless you would prefer to discuss questions about the content of the article on the talk page of the article draft itself. Yes, here on Wikipedia we do have to be very careful not to just copy prose that has been published and belongs to someone else, because of copyright issues. It is however, possible to take a bunch of information and re-write it completely so that it is no longer under copyright, and I can help you with that if necessary. Just so you know, you can (and ideally should) sign your notes by typing four of these wiggly things... ~ ...at the end of your message. The software here will automatically convert the four wiggly things into your name and the date, once you hit "Save page". Instead I have pasted in that info from the edit history page, but it does not have blue links. Best wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 21:07, 10 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Finishing the draft edit

If you want to just list the other references, I can put them in place, and then if you need to re-write all the prose from scratch, I can do that too. It seems a pity to just abandon this draft when it is close to being ready to submit. Thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 14:14, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
