Welcome!

Hello, Donswaim, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

I noticed you added the Ambrose Bierce site to the article on Carey McWilliams. I didn't do a thorough search of the site (just a ctrl+F), but I didn't see any mention of McWilliams, so I removed the link. If this is your personal site, you may want to take a look at Wikipedia:Spam and make sure your contributions fall within the guidelines listed there.

Then I saw that you had also added to Don Swaim. Some wikipedians are unfortunate (or fortunate, as the case may be) to be notable enough to have articles about themselves. However, according to Jimmy Wales, It is a faux pas to write about yourself. Of course it is okay to correct errors and the like, but generally the editing is best left to other editors if possible. If there are any more facts you'd like included (city of birth, perhaps?) please mention them on the article's talkpage or just let me know. I'd be glad to add it in. 8)

Please don't let these minor issues discourage you from editing here. We can always use the help of experienced writers such as yourself. Thanks fot your contributions, --Rockero 02:48, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

While I think the Ambroce Bierce site is appropriate for the Ambroce Bierce article and maybe a few other closely related articles, it doesn't really belong in many of the article's you added it to (i.e., San Francisco). OhNoitsJamieTalk 03:44, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
