A tag has been placed on User:Dihfahsih Mugoya/sandbox/How to become a Software Engineer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.learnhowtobecome.org/computer-careers/software-engineering/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. –Ammarpad (talk) 13:56, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

This also applies to Draft:Why HIV/AIDS is not cured despite the current advancement in technology and to the material in your sandbox User:Dihfahsih Mugoya/sandbox. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the law and the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. There's more information about copyrights and how it applies to Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Copyright law and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. So far your only activity here has been to add copyright material you've copied from elsewhere online. This has to stop immediately, or you will be blocked from editing. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:56, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Blocked

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 10:14, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked your account, because in spite of repeated warnings, you continued to add copyright material to this wiki in violation of our copyright policy and copyright law. You cannot resume editing until you provide a clear statement that demonstrates that you have read and understand our copyright policy and intend to follow it in the future. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 10:16, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Am requesting to be unblocked, i know i violated the copyrights in my previous article but that was my first time using wikipedia but now that i have learnt the regulations and policies very well, i am good to go, thanksDihfahsih Mugoya (talk) 06:29, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You need to convince us that you understand it, not just say that you do. One way to do that is to summarize the policy in your own words. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:29, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I am appealing to administrators to unblock me. I was blocked last year for copyright violation which at that time i didn't understand well. But after reading the copyright policy of wikipedia, i have now known to acknowledge other people's work rather than just copying it into my article without making a reference to them. The following are things i have learnt about what copyright as stated in this article [[1]] 1. copying material without the permission of the copyright holder from sources that are not public domain is a form of copyright violation 2.inserting copied text with simple changes also can result into copyright violations 3. Even Media such as images or videos that that don't meet the free content standards can also lead to copyright infringement.

In short when i want to refer to some other people's work i should just reference their articles instead of copying their work and paste into my article which can lead to plagiarism.

If i am unblocked by Wikipedia Administrators, i will make sure that i appreciate other people's work by referencing it rather than copying it. Thank you so much, looking forward to contributing to Wikipedia with rightful and well researched information— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dihfahsih Mugoya (talkcontribs) 13:32, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Whilst you may now have an understanding of copyright (based on the above message I don't think you've understood it terribly well, but the undertaking to avoid copying text into Wikipedia from other sources is a reasonable baseline) I still have concerns about the pages that you chose to create when you were still able to edit. Even if they had not been blatant copyright violations, they would all still have been inappropriate for Wikipedia for a variety of other reasons. Before considering an unblock, therefore, I would like to see some indication of the areas in which you intend to edit if the block is removed. Yunshui  11:54, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
