If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. Speedy deletion nomination of Jonathan Warm Day

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jonathan Warm Day requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.leeandlow.com/books/450/hc/kiki_s_journey. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Jonathan Warm Day moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Jonathan Warm Day, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Plagiarism and Jonathan Warm Day edits

edit

Hi @Darthrevan2023, I noticed you've moved your work to the mainspace, and it's been moved back twice, and once deleted for copyright violation by volunteers. Before I provide my feedback, please stop moving your draft work or sandbox work on Jonathan Warm Day to the mainspace. It's considered edit warring and could result in your account being blocked. I did notice that it doesn't look like you are up to date on the training modules and exercises on the Dashboard, so completing those would help you a lot. I checked out your draft and you only have one source. For a figure to be notable and have a wikipedia article, there needs to be significant independent coverage from reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles, academic journals or reliable magazines to name a few. I recommend you review the training module on sources, and try to find at least 3-5 sources on this person. Also check out this guide on biographies that provides more details about how to structure the article.

Plagiarism: Your work was first removed bc it was copied from [1]https://www.leeandlow.com/books/450/hc/kiki_s_journey. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. For copyright reasons, this contribution had to be deleted. Remember that additions to Wikipedia need to be written entirely in your own words. Please review the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before making additional edits. I recommend you go through the trainings, find the appropriate sources to support notability, and make sure that all the writing you do is in your own words, even in the sandbox/draft space. Do not move your work to mainspace until someone - myself or your instructor @Nstrathman has reviewed your work. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. You have been blocked temporarily from editing because after being warned about copyright, and having a page which you created deleted because of copyright infringement, you have again posted material copied from elsewhere into a Wikipedia page. Almost all of us, when we start editing Wikipedia, know little or nothing about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so nobody can be blamed for starting out doing things that are contrary to policies and guidelines that they don't know about. However, continuing to do the same things after being told about the relevant policies and guidelines is a different matter.JBW (talk) 22:54, 21 February 2023 (UTC). Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.Reply
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

2nd block feedback

edit

Hi @@Darthrevan2023: If you are interested in appealing the block, please read the instructions provided in the text box. Carefully read and consider the advice on the Guide to appealing a block to understand and show the volunteers you understand why it was you were blocked to begin with, and the measures you'll take to not repeat the same behavior. Taking part in this project means you are a part of the community like other Wiki volunteers, and need to follow and respect the policy guidelines in place like other volunteers. Stating "I need to complete the article as a project for my history class" is not an appropriate reason to use. Like I mentioned above, please read through instructions to move forward with the appeal process. Otherwise, your instructor will be in touch with more information on how to proceed with the Wiki project.Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:52, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
