Disambiguation link notification for December 5 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Edit-warring edit

You appear to be edit-warring on two different pages (Gothem (tv series), and Joker in other media) about the same topic. I'd urge you to stop and use the discussion page to sort out a solution - as I've asked you to do no less than three different times. I've reverted you in Gotham yet again. If you choose to post a comment and revert yet again, I will be forced to file in 3RR. This is not a threat; it is a wake-up call to help you realize that you are have to edit collaboratively, or you will not edit at all. Use the discussion page, please. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 14:44, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive editing? edit

Ypu'r eprobably going to find me a LOT more easy to work with if you take a moment to see why I am removing ncited information instead of reverting it all and calling it "disruptive." It's kind of a dick move to do that. If you have a problem with it, open a discussion about it. I am going to remove any cited connection that doesn't come with a reference from a reliable source tying the characters from the series to those in the comic books. Don't like it? Find a source. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 03:15, 21 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Inactive villains edit

The inactive villains list probably won't be an inactive villains list for long. I am not sure I want to count Spencer Smythe who has an important legacy in his son and also had plenty of media appearances to appear there. I feel the same way to Demogoblin too. I think I want the list to stick to lesser foes. Thoughts? Jhenderson 777 20:56, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Jhenderson 777 Perhaps it would be better to change the name of the Inactive Villains section or better elaborate on what the criteria is.
I had a similar thought when thinking about Spencer Smythe's son, Alistair Smythe. While Alistair Smythe is currently dead, his death was relatively recent (in 2011, if I remember correctly) and he has a major role in a lot of stories prior to his death. Same goes for Spencer Smythe, because for the longest time in the comics it was just Spencer Smythe. There was no Alistair Smythe and Spencer was the villain in charge of the Spider Slayers. This obviously lasted until the character was killed off.
One concern I also have is that, because we are dealing with comic book characters and ongoing comic continuity, dead characters can easily be resurrected, character deaths can be retconned and continuity can be re-written. While I think an Inactive Villains section CAN work, I think it may be a bit tricky and we would need to set a clear criteria for a villain to apply for the section. Darkknight2149 (talk) 21:56, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for addition of sources. I did have some problem with one of the sources (but that's ok since you had enough). They will need more touch ups but overall you did make most of what I planned to do easier. I feel like you want the addition of most of the characters back. Just letting you know that all the old characters are still here if you ever feel like adding them on the page. Jhenderson 777 02:19, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Jhenderson 777 Okay, thanks! Darkknight2149 (talk) 02:31, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I noticed your comment the first time you posted it on my sandbox page. If you are wanting my opinion then I mostly agree with you BUT at the same time I may note that the Gentleman was the only multi-media character that isn't a comic book character on the Spider-Man enemies in other media section. AN/I filed edit

Not regarding you, but instead the anon who posted his hateful little screed on your talk page. He was blocked the last time he did it, and has been off the block for less than a week before doing it again, this time to you. I've filed the AN/I report here, asking for a significantly longer block, as the user seems to be having trouble getting the point. You are invited to add your voice to the complaint, if you so desire. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 01:27, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. You and I have had our differences, but what the anon did was totally unacceptable. I'm guessing its some 14 year old kid who takes out getting grounded from XBox by pissing on us. Now he has three months to grow up, and hope that no one else from his IP (who wants to edit) wants to come by and show their appreciation for the IP range block. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 04:33, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Be careful when reverting edit

I've undone this reversion of yours as there does indeed look like there are copyright violation concerns. Copyright violations trump any attempt to deal with a sock puppet and so this should have remained blank (assuming the concerns were valid - which they are in this case). Indeed if the material is copyrighted you could have opened yourself up to legal action by the copyright holder by restoring it (although this is obviously very unlikely). In future I suggest you levae copyright notices in place, even in the case of sockpuppets, unless it's clearly without merit. Dpmuk (talk) 02:32, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Dpmuk Considering the edits were made by a sockpuppet, I was unsure whether or not there was actually a copyright violation. If there is, thanks for notifying me. Darkknight2149 (talk) 03:26, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
They definitely appear to be but I'll leave it to someone else to make the final decision because I'm not really very active here any more. But copyright is one of those few areas where I'd say you should be better safe than sorry and not revert unless you're sure, even in the case of a sockpuppet. I say that as some one that was active in the copyright area when I was active here. I say this in an attempt to educate not to have a go - many many users, including more than the occasional admin, have been caught out by copyright. Dpmuk (talk) 03:50, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Merging-related edit

I heard that you merged Polka-Dot Man to a page for minor DC Comics characters. If you wanted to verify a merge, you could've at least did something in the Articles for Deletion in order to obtain a consensus for a merge. I'm just letting you know that before your next merge plans. --Rtkat3 (talk) 00:51, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I understand your concern but I did bring it up on the Talk Pages for both of the articles. Even after waiting a few days, nobody ever responded. Darkknight2149 (talk) 01:03, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Still, you should've at least did the thing that I just mentioned. Just an FYI by the next merge that you plan to do. --Rtkat3 (talk) 01:47, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I'll keep that in mind before attempting to merge another article again. Darkknight2149 (talk) 02:20, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I respectfully disagree with Rtkat3. You just wanted the character to be merged not deleted. So a merge request is a more logical approach. Also you can be bold and merge/unmerge too. I would recommend a tag on the article though. Jhenderson 777 03:19, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Gotham character linkage edit

I know you truly believe that you don't have to cite a connection, and that you think its "obvious" that they are connected. I have even admitted to being surprised that you think we only have to provide a reference if they aren't connected. Let's clear up all the confusion here, because the next step is going to be AN:I.
We're going to use a character that you seem hell-bent on including, Aaron Helzinger. You have edit-warred the wikilinkage connecting the tv character to the one from the comics books, based upon the fact that they have the same name. However, all but one of the references do not refer to the actor as Amigdala. They refer to him as Aaron Helzinger. The one that refers to the actor as Amigdala doesn't refer to the character Aaron Helzinger. I'm going to completely sidestep the crufty fanboy reasoning that would make me point out that Aaron isn't Amigdala yet, and won't be until Batman starts operating in Gotham, as per the comics. Instead, I am going to point out how we operate in Wikipedia. We do not make these connections. You have presented enough references indicating the character's name as Aaron Helzinger. You have not done so for the character being Amigdala. In precisely none of the references that you provided are the two names used together. Stitching a conclusion together by a comparison of two of the references is called Synthesis, and we pointedly, absolutely aren't allowed to do that. We don't get to draw those conclusions (what I call Sherlocking), since we as editors are not citable.
I have been gracious enough to point out your error in reasoning here, in the relative privacy of your talk page. If you disagree with our policy (or my interpretation of it), please do as I suggested and ask around. Failing that, ask for a Third Opinion, or do something similar. If you continue revert-warring in a connection that is unsupported by references and opposed by reasonable dissent, you are going to force my hand. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 05:36, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

You archived out discussion before it had ended, suggesting it was taking place elsewhere. Could you provide a link to it since, you know, I am one of the participants in the discussion? - Jack Sebastian (talk) 19:19, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Batman edit

In regard to your reverting my edits, please provide sources in the article. I do not agree that Bruce Wayne as a child is the same person as Batman--in the TV series Gotham Batman does not exist currently. Your other points may be valid, but everything here requires a source. Thank you, --Nuujinn (talk) 20:57, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Nuujinn Forgive me for taking so long to respond. The reason I keep reverting you is because Bruce Wayne and Batman are one in the same, which is why Bruce Wayne redirects to Batman. "Batman" is a character, not an identity that is passed around from person to person like the Flash or Green Lantern.
If you need a citation to prove that the Bruce Wayne on the series is the same character as Bruce Wayne/Batman from the comic, I'm sure you can easily find one at Gotham (TV series) or Batman but I can provide one for you if you insist. That's why Bruce Wayne links to Batman in all of the articles relating to the Gotham television series. This goes without mentioning that Bruce Wayne is confirmed to put on the suit in the final episode of the series, granted the series makes it to that point before hypothetical cancellation.
The series as a whole is intended to be an origin story for the Batman mythos, and young Bruce is already developing his so called "Batman skills" (for lack of a better term) on the show.[1] DarkKnight2149 05:32, 24 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Nuujinn The discussion has moved from here to Talk:Batman. DarkKnight2149 17:07, 24 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
