To Live Is To Die Day edit

  • Thank you for the email. I have updated the AfD discussion with a summary of what you wrote. It is generally best for an AfD to just run its course once it is started, and there is no obvious way to interrupt it to remove the article beforehand. It's not a huge deal that it takes a couple of extra days to remove it. I'm sorry you were hoaxed, and I hope this experience hasn't made you reluctant to contribute. Continue to edit and be bold. As long as you edit in good faith as you did here, people deciding that the information doesn't fit in the encyclopedia is pretty much the worst thing that can happen. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Agalloch The White-EP.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Agalloch The White-EP.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Agalloch The White-EP.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Agalloch The White-EP.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Speedy deletion of NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ edit

A tag has been placed on NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. BradV 18:00, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

July 2008 edit

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. BradV 18:01, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ edit

I have nominated NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? The Evil Spartan (talk) 18:34, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:God Is An Astronaut ST Cover.jpg} edit

Thank you for uploading Image:God Is An Astronaut ST Cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. File copyright problem with File:WikiSky Image Of NGC 4420.JPG edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:WikiSky Image Of NGC 4420.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILY (TALK) 04:02, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Question About Non-Free Use edit

Hi Dark dude. Well, unless the website explicitly states that the image is licensed under the {{cc-by-3.0}} license, then, you will need to get evidence of permission from the creator/copyright owner of the image. For the image to be used, the creator/copyright owner will have to send an email to "permissions-en@wikimedia.org", explaining that the image can be used on Wikipedia and under what license (a list may be found here). If neither of the conditions can be met, then the image may be deleted. Hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any questions or are in need of assistance. Possibly unfree File:1AAA.png edit

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:1AAA.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Soundvisions1 (talk) 12:19, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of PGC 36839 edit

The article PGC 36839 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Fails all criteria of WP:NASTRO: not visible to naked eye, no important studies done, not in any catalogue of note.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
