WP:FILMS Questionnaire

edit

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Hi,

Can you kindly let me know why the link I just submitted has been removed?

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yasiraq (talkcontribs) 03:22, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I truely adhere to Spam regulations but my intention is not to promote Spam. If you pay a visit to the site, you will clearly see that it is all relevant to the Wiki page where this link has been added.

I truely believe that Wiki is about sharing quality, genuine content and not a place for spammers and I follow it with true spirit.

However, If you still consider it spam. I won't argue but do give it a second thought.

NowCommons: File:Cricket Bat2.jpg

edit

File:Cricket Bat2.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Cricket Bat2.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Cricket Bat2.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 11:08, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Joshua Project data on Khatri page

edit

I agree with your comment on unreliability of Joshua project data. I believe there is some data in census publication from 1910 period, but will take some work to dig out.

"KhatriNYC" whoever he is, is engaged in vandalism. He pretends to be a proud Khatri, but he keeps deleting valid and well referenced information without justification. He seems to be promoting the ideas that imply the Punjabis are Indo-Scythians and are different from Hindus, I have seen Pakistanis and Khalistanis promote that theory.--ISKapoor (talk) 05:48, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

IAST

edit

Thanks for the IAST on Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, that was fast! Perhaps you could help me: I spent some time looking for an automatic Devanagari -> IAST, ie a romanizer from Sanskrit etc. to IAST, but no luck. Do you know of any such tools online or downloadable? There's quite a few in the other direction, where you type latin characters and get Indian script, but I can't find something where I enter "महा मृत्युंजय मंत्र" and get "mahā mṛtyuṃjaya mantra". --Kai Carver (talk) 08:15, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Request for Participation in Wikipedia Research

edit

DaGizza,

Your Request for Adminship (RfA) process was reviewed and studied by our research team at Carnegie Mellon University early in our project to gain insights into the process. We reviewed what voters discussed about your case, and what qualifications you brought to the table as a candidate. In total 50 cases were personally read and reviewed, and we based our further research questions in part on your case.

In continuing our research, I would like to personally invite you to participate in a survey we are conducting to get perspective from people who have participate in the RfA process. The survey will only take a few minutes of your time, and will aid furthering our understanding of online communities, and may assist in the development of tools to assist voters in making RfA evaluations. We are NOT attempting to spam anyone with this survey and are doing our best to be considerate and not instrusive in the Wikipedia community. The results of this survey are for academic research and are not used for any profit nor sold to any companies. We will also post our results back to the Wikipedia community.

This survey is part of an ongoing research project by students and faculty at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science and headed by Professor Robert Kraut.

Take the survey

Thank you!

Removing Categories

edit

I've noticed that you are removing the category Zoroastrianism from all Zoroastrianism-related articles. What is the point of doing this? warrior4321 02:17, 29 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello I was wondering why you removed the link to rugbyweek.com that I put up but leave links that are longer valid.

For example the Link to Rugbydirt.com. The site is no longer current and has no new material. The main story is from a third party feed that was updated on Jan 11, 2008.

Another example is Erugbynews.com which is no longer a site on its own and is now simply a link to a site called Rugbymag.com.

RugbyinCanada.com does not seem to have been updated since April and offers very little for wikipedia users.

In contrast Rugbyweek.com is a news site that is updated probably hourly and is an enormous resource for those interested in rugby Union. The site has all the latest news with tables, team sheets and results from all current tournaments.

I feel that if you took the time to look at the links the Rugbyweek.com link will be a far greater resource to the wikipedia page than the others which are now outdated or neglected. The web has evolved beyond these outdated resouces.

So, can we put the link back now ? Do you agree ? Do you have any thoughts ?

I look forward to hearing from you.

English Language Wikipedia

edit

Thank you for reversing my edit, but it appears you are not aware of the English Colloquial language . If the article was written in Punjabi, then my edit would not be relevant. However it is and there is a big difference between Australian, American and the "English" English. language.
