Speedy deletion nomination of Pearl G. Kamber

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pearl G. Kamber requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia's notability requirements

edit

Hello, and welcome to editing Wikipedia. I hope you have a successful time here, but unfortunately there have been problems with your first steps here. Wikipedia does not have articles about just anything, and requires that a topic satisfy certain notability guidelines if it is to be the subject of an article. I have read the article you wrote about Pearl G. Kamber very carefully, and I'm afraid I can see nothing that indicates that she is in any way significant enough to be the subject of an article in the encyclopaedia. Such things as being a retired secretary, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and donating blood are not special enough or significant enough. Also, it is necessary to provide reliable sources to support the facts in the article, for two reason: firstly, in a project where anyone in the world can come along and edit, people can and do post stuff which is simply untrue, so we need reliable sources to verify the content of articles, and secondly we need coverage in reliable sources to show that the subject satisfies the notability guidelines. I have made searches for information about Pearl G. Kamber, and while I have been able to confirm some of the things you said in the article, I have not seen anything which suggests that she is significant enough to be the subject of an article. Because of the lack of indication of significance, the article has been deleted. My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. Speaking on behalf of an organisation in an article.

edit

I see that you have several times edited the article Warren Commission, adding text such as "The Commission would like to acknowledge its gratitude for this assistance and thank..." and "In addition the Commission wishes to thank the following lawyers, secretaries, and clerks for their unstinting efforts on behalf of the Commission..." A Wikipedia article is not the place to speak on behalf of any organisation, and should not speak in the voice of the person or organisation which the article is about. Wikipedia does not serve to help sellers or buyers

edit

I see that at Talk:Anne Randolph Rechter you wrote that the corresponding article should not be deleted because "This page will be helpful for potential buyers and art dealers". I'm afraid you have misunderstood the nature of Wikipedia, which does not serve as a marketing medium or a way of "helping" potential customers. I strongly urge you to take up the advice I gave you above about how to begin editing Wikipedia. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:57, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
