Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/DASH

edit

The first red flag I noticed when reviewing this was the "Early life" section. Most of this is unverifiable unless you are DASH (or his mother). As expected, I didn't see these claims confirmed in any of the independent sources I checked. In addition, it looks to be setting up the storyline of a hagiography, which is also not what we want. This is a common trap to fall into when writing about yourself or a subject very close to you. Sometimes it's permissible to use to cite what the subject says about himself (eg, birthdate and birthplace, musical influences, though for the latter, it might be better to explicitly attribute it like "In a 2012 interview with Artistdirect, DASH listed his musical influences as ... [1]"), but most of the content, especially any parts that show notability, should be based on truly independent sources.

Also, some of it is not written in a neutral, encyclopedic manner. That in itself isn't a good reason to decline a submission since anyone can edit the page to correct it, but if moved to mainspace, you should expect a sentence like "DASH packed up and set out for the bright lights of New York City to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a solo sensation." to become, "DASH then moved to New York City to pursue his solo career."

If you want to resubmit, please read WP:BAND for the relevant notability criteria and WP:AMNESIA and Uncle G's essay for advice on how to avoid accidentally introducing unverifiable first-hand knowledge or personal bias. Kilopi (talk) 20:43, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
