Your rollbacks regarding articles pertaining to Les Cités Obscures

These are all works in progress, started as ideal stubs with enough wikilinks and external links to provide ample reference for plenty expandability in order to prevent speedy deletion, plus additional sections including placeholder templates to indicate some information is imminent within the next few days, although partly not much from myself, however the various links should provide enough material to expand upon the stubs. I'm forced to this step-by-step way of doing things due to little time for additions, and between these the articles should prevail.

Notability for the individual volumes is established by a number of criteria mentioned at Wikipedia:Notability (books) and Wikipedia:Notability (fiction):

  • "The book has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of the book itself"
  • "a series of books, television shows, or video games could contain elements [such as volumes] which are better covered in a separate article or articles, helping to provide suitable background and supplementary information for each work within the series", with the criteria above as its decisive stepping stone
  • some of these were "made or adapted with attribution into a motion picture that was released into multiple commercial theaters, or was aired on a nationally televised network or cable station in any country"
  • quite a lot of these possibly have "won literary awards", though it'd take some additional research for me to verify this at this point.

Furthermore, I guess if a work of fiction is published and widely available in all large European languages and was additionally published in a few minor ones, except English, with millions of copies sold of the entire series as a whole, I do consider that notability is established. --87.193.229.142 (talk) 13:41, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

I've put a reply on your talk page CultureDrone (talk) 16:04, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Utsusemi- Thanks!

Thank you Culture Drone for taking the time to answer to my inquiry. I may be a Genji veteran, but I am a Wiki newbie and I have yet to learn about rules and regulations. So, I'll leave it at that for the time being. However, as someone who has studied the topic under discussion for seven years, I cannot help remark that errors in forms are sanctioned more often than errors in content ( I am strictly referring exclusively to the Tale of Genji page here). I'll keep making my contributions, however small they might be, in the hope that the Tale of Genji page can one day become a source I can confidently direct student to.

Slad and Veter deletion

Hi, Pedro . I'm totally disagree with a deletion of an Slad and Veter page. It's a heroes from the one of most popular USA Tv commercial...Millions of people(including me) are watching this commercial and they're really curios about every detail in this spot, especially about those guys. just type the Techno Twins commercial in the Google and you'll see how many things are there about it.It's already a 145.000 views on a you-tube and thousands of comments. And people are asking about the same thing OVER and OVER again. So, i think that u should rethink your decision.

thank you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Harvester7 (talkcontribs)

Boolean Operators

Might I ask as to why this article was deleted? Clearly the information provided doesn't belong under "philosophy", and when you enter that text it brings the search to the article Logical connective.

I don't mind if someone deletes, improves, or reworks my contributions as long as the information is placed appropriately, and I'm not engaging in a war over it: that's stupid. So I came for a compromise and an explaination. Boolean Operators (computer science) are words that can be used to refine searches on some computer applications and web searches. Within Boolean Operators are symbols, such as "%", that will allow the search to be conducted by replacing the sign with any letter of the alphabet. But they also encompass logic gates in digital circuits, and they're not necessarily "how to's", they do have histories and creators. HowStuffWorks has an entire aricle on Boolean Operators concerning computer science, but its only a tiny three paragraphs on Wikipedia under a philosophy article. It's in the wrong category if you ask me. Colonel Marksman (talk) 09:15, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

---

The word "Chimera" has several different meanings, but we don't try to cram them all into one article. "Racing" might be a better example. Sure racing encompasses several areas, but we don't try to fit all the information into one article or spread motorsport racing around like sprinkled dust for researchers to find.

If someone (like myself) were asked in a computer science question to answer, "What are Boolean Operators? Where did the term come from, and who invented them? How are they applied?" I had a brief wording of it in the textbook but faithfully went to Wikipedia. Typing "boolean operators" brought me to a philosophy/language page with a tiny section for application in computers. "Spreading information around" on a small topic like that isn't the purpose of an encyclopedia, especially an internet-based one.

If I add a section into the "web search query", nobody's going to find it unless they think or look long enough - very little has been fixed that could be improved.

I believe the section "Application in Computer Science" in the logical connective could be expanded as its own article and include web search queries. Under Boolean logic, there is another section "Applications" that makes brief mention of the Boolean operators I speak of, but the same exact information and related information is scattered everywhere.

By collecting all computer science-related Boolean terms and applications under one roof (and links to the other pages as they are now) you will find a substantially-sized article. The article can then be given to Wikipedia:WikiProject Computing for them to expand, take attention, and add references.

Such an undertaking cannot easily be done by one person, and not without careful evaluation, support, votes, and more importantly, the voice to get it together. Why settle for a tiny addition to a small section when an entire improvement can be made?

Boolean usage isn't a "how to", it has a whole history and growing technological application. Boolean Operators likewise are part of that, and are not "how to make a web search". They were created, and include several symbols, not just "and, but, or,". Colonel Marksman (talk) 08:50, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Hal Huggins

Could you tell me if the additions assuage your concerns about Hal Huggins being a 1 time event? He is a dentist and scientist who has devoted himself to dental research, publishing, and to the treatment of patients according to his understanding of dentistry. While some of his views are controversial in the United States, they are widely accepted in some European countries. --Alterrabe (talk) 12:49, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Read the article again; you may understand why "controversial" does him justice.

I have added some source material regarding Huggins' unscientific and unethical practices which got his license removed to the talk page. Someone has tagged the article because of its multiple policy and style violations, and I'm hoping that Alterrabe will show themselves to be a good enough editor to respect NPOV by cleaning it up and using the sources to provide the whole story. You are also welcome to work on it. -- Fyslee / talk 14:32, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Marek Krajewski

You PRODded the article on the grounds that "Although a published author, doesn't appear to pass WP:BIO / WP:CREATIVE".

The interwiki links point to articles about this man on three other languages. I fully realize the mere presence of interwiki links isn't enough to show notability (they're not necessarily valid links, for one thing), and neither is the existence of articles on other wikis. However, they're certainly an indicator that one should look a little more carefully. I don't speak Polish, German, or Italian, but online translators do exist, and those showed that he's won several awards. Furthermore, the alternate titles given for his novels show that his work has been translated into at least three other languages.

That's notability.

No harm done; just be more careful next time, okay? DS (talk) 16:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

you deleted my entry. Why?

Proposed deletion of The Loser (novel)

I posted the 'acceptance for re-publication on the respective "discussion" page. The blog is managed by Kinkazzo and myself, and in creating the Sebald article I edited some material from it, accepting thus its re-use. Don't see any copyright problems. OK? --Daubmir (talk) 09:55, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

The Loser (novel)

Bear in mind that the prose is about the content of the novel not about the style or quality of the writing, or anything by way of review of the book and content. Agreed the style of prose is a little unfortunate but wholesale culling isn't the best way to encourage contribution from others. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:59, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Marek Krajewski

Delete, you say. Krajewski is in Poland an author like Grisham or King in America. Besides, the main protagonist of his books already had a separate page (Mock). Where are American Slavists? In Poland, we create entries for eminent American, British authors ourselves. In the English version, Poles have to create articles about Poles, which I consider artificial, and that's why I left the English version. Polish Wikipedia has just 3 times less entries than the English one, consider the population numbers. Because of your foreign deletion practices? Deletion hurts. --Revery (talk) 16:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

A problem to discuss with you.

Hi,

I have a problem to discuss with you.

Suppose you’ve made a survey and prepared an article on a particular subject yourself. This is completely your work. No report, regarding that subject, has ever been published anywhere, or no website of it is available. You know and believe that it has some significance and can be uploaded to wikipedia. You did accordingly. Now wikipedia is asking you for sources or citations, which you do not have except the report you made yourself, with your own effort.

In such conditions, what will you suggest me to do? (Or what would you do?)

Nakia vs. Nakia & His Southern Cousins - New Info

Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that I just added a WHOLE lot of info over at my User talk page. I would REALLY appreciate your help. Plz suggest me!

I created an article named Chitraban Film Studio and attached the image File:Joymati5.jpg from the article Joymoti. Due to my lack of knowledge regarding uploading an image, there might be some discrepancies, I honestly agree with that. But it has been stated like

“This image does not have an adequate rationale for the following article(s):

I couldn’t understand since the image is of the Chitraban Film Studio and the article I created is also about the Chitraban Film Studio. I think this image is more appropriate in my article although I do not owe the copyright. But I took it from Wikipedia itself. Let it be deleted from the article Chitraban Film Studio, but the statement is not reasonable. (Footage (talk) 16:31, 7 January 2009 (UTC))

The Todd Manning and Marty Saybrooke article

As I stated on TAnthony's talk page, as well as Rocksey's, and to this user his or herself, I am beyond angered that the editor who created this article literally copied all of my hard work about this subject and pasted it into this new article. Furthermore, it is clear that this article was only created so that Todd and Marty could have a couple article, like popular couples or supercouples. This person did not even include the rest of the bad regarding this couple, such as people considering the sex Todd and Amnesiac Marty had to be the second rape of Marty. Although...it could be that this person felt that they were "holding back" by not copying and pasting everything about this from the Todd Manning article, or that he or she just has not yet thought to update it with my work again.

Right now, I am about to redirect it. If this editor fights me on this, I will nominate it for deletion. We do not need this article when the Todd Manning article relays all of this. And, no, I am not about to cut all of this out of the Todd Manning article just so this article can exist. You probably did not know that I am the one who orginally wrote all that. If you had known, I definitely would have wished that you would have come to me about this. Thank you for seeing that this article was never needed and for going about its removal and trying to relay that fact to this editor. Flyer22 (talk) 05:15, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Another editor just redirected it. Thanks again, though. Flyer22 (talk) 05:16, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Nakia - Help

Thanks for the update.

I wanted to add something that has been posted since the last update that might help in fortifying his status for notability...

http://nakia.net/press/Nakia-AustinMonthly0109.pdf

This is the article that appears in the January 2009 Austin Monthly which services over 100,000 readers.

As for contacting an admin - where do I do that sort of thing? Sorry - very new here. Thanks for all of your help! Cheezewhiz (talk) 20:30, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for Mossol

I’m very happy. The article looks beautiful now. Thanks a lot. I just wanted to keep the article in Wikipedia, not to unnecessarily make it long. So it’s fine if you’ve cropped some portion of it.

However, can’t we insert the following points, like:

  • that it was British Raj in India when Mossol was arrested
  • that it was a time of WW-II
  • and most importantly the assumption behind his arrest.

(Of course in your style)

Very soon I’m gonna contact Pranjal Kr Mahanta to get a photograph of Mossol (along with copyright) to post in the article.

One more thing! In my preference (in my userpage) I haven’t been able to set my time properly. How is it to set? I tried all the formats but in vain.

Lydia Price / Kai Mullins

I still have them on my todo list. I was going to check after finishing the list of speedies I had opened. If the assertions are totally fake, then WP:CSD#G3 should be applied (for blatant misinformation), rather than A7 (which is for article making NO claims of notability. If you do that next time, hoax articles will disappear like snow for the sun. - Mgm|(talk) 10:35, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes, CSD criteria are specifically narrow and since we admins need to be accountable for our actions we should delete material for the right reasons. I often see articles tagged for a lack of notability because someone overlooked or intentionally disregarded valid assertions. By making it clear from the outset the assertions are crap you avoid the misunderstandings. (Also, no matter how crap something is, some things simply aren't speedy material under the current rules no matter how much we want them to be) - Mgm|(talk) 10:55, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
  • I've deleted them now and I'm ashamed I even thought of leaving Kai Mullins for verification (I recently read an article about the person who actually won the British preselections; I should've remembered that) - Mgm|(talk) 19:19, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Not sure admin overload is the right word. More like absent-minded I literally read it 4 hours before it came up... - Mgm|(talk) 11:22, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
