Speedy deletion nomination of Jakob tordsen edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jakob tordsen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GILO   A&E 22:05, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's not what Wikipedia is for edit

From your talk page message it sounds as though you have a connection with Tordsen which gives you a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest in writing about him in Wikipedia. In any case, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and so is not for promotion of any kind, and is not a place for "up and coming" players to list themselves. See WP:NBASKETBALL for what a basketball player needs to have achieved before having an article. JohnCD (talk) 22:20, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jakob Tordsen Deleted Page edit

Please restore my page there are a lot of scouts looking at Jakob and I put a lot of factual information about the young man it wAnt spam and it is important to the young mans career, if you could please just restore it so I could finish writing all of my information on it that would be great that way you can see everything that we still have yet to Type about this great young man. This isn't faking anything, or copying anything so I would really appreciate it if you could put my page back up so I can continue improving it. Thanks. :) Also please note that isn't just a player listing himself to help promote himself it is just a factual site on a young player. His parents as well as his friends and other family are very excited that he is becoming so well known, a website for young ayers is gathering information so he can be added to that so I thought I would also make this page to help raise awareness of the rising star. I am not talking him up, I am simply stating facts about the young man which does not violate any of your rules so under code rule i should be obliged to have my page returned to me. Lastly, you say he must be notable player, well he plays for an AAU team that is being sponsored by NIKE I would say that's pretty much notable wouldn't you? He has played many tournaments nationwide as an eith grader on an AAU team that is an amazing achievement and all of these things should be noted for everyone to see. Absolutely not. Wikipedia is not for "raising awareness", we call that promotion. An encyclopedia only covers people who have already arrived, not the up and coming - read WP:NBASKETBALL for what a basketball player needs to have achieved before having an article.
What you wrote was a blatant advertisement, full of glowing adjectives: "strong first baseman... total power hitter... a powerhouse running back... strong middle linebacker... extremely fast... " Anything like that is deleted at sight. You want to puff your young man for talent scouts - good luck to you and him, but an encyclopedia is not the place to do it. Put him in the young players' website, that sounds the right place.
You can reply below here, if you want, I will watch this page, though it will be tomorrow before I am on again. JohnCD (talk) 22:58, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

In response to your feedback edit

I do not think you met all the criteria per the discussion on your talk page, though I haven't seen the article. You probably need to find independent articles that discuss the person in some depth, since he is not a notable basketball player yet.
