The Vespas AfD edit

Hi Craigster, I understand and appreciate that you want the discussion on the deletion of The Vespas to be closed. It was my fault for messing up the nomination that it took so long. Still the discussion should have the full community scrutiny of a normal deletion discussion, for seven days since it was first listed, so that any willing participants to the discussion can find it, and have a reasonable exchange of arguments. Closing the discussion out of process doesn't really look like an option to me. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 19:50, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

New Vespa's Pic edit

Hey Craig, Did you take the new Vespas photo that you loaded? If you didn't, you're going to get flagged for a copyright violation because you don't have the right to release it into the public domain. The only way you can use copyrighted photos is under a fair use claim, and that only works for band pictures when the band is no longer active. It's not good to have a WP:COPYVIO on your record, so if the pic isn't yours, you might want to get ahead of the game and flag it for deletion yourself.

If you *did* take it, I think you should make that clearer in the description and author fields.

Let me know if I can help. Robman94 (talk) 14:11, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was taken as part of the article by the AC advertiser, I assumed the band would own all copyright of photos with them in. I have permission from the band to create and edit the page on there behalf? How do I flag or edit it? Craigster92 (talk) 00:41, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The copyright normally stays with the photographer, unless he assigns it to someone else, so I would assume the copyright belongs to the photographer or the newspaper, unless there is evidence to the contrary. Even if the band does own the copyright, it's not sufficient (at wikipedia) for them to give you permission to use it, they would need to actually release it into the public domain (or similar). Wouldn't it be simpler to just take a picture at a concert and use that? Robman94 (talk) 12:44, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Newer Vespas Pic edit

Hi Craig, I see that you've added a new pic, but when I look at it over at Commons there's no info about who took it and what the copyright situation is, so somebody's gonna come along real soon and put some tags on it, and if they're not resolved, they'll delete it. Am I right in guessing that you took this pic this time? If so, you can copy the code needed for the pic from one of my pics, like this one. Let me know if you need help. Rob Robman94 (talk) 21:00, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm surprised that it took them this long, but somebody has deleted the Vespas pic for the reasons that I stated. If you have a picture of the band that you took yourself, you should load that instead and be sure to state that it's your own work. Robman94 (talk) 19:49, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:54, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
