Hold it. We've gotten to ArbCom? You just started the RFC and skipped Mediation entirely. The Arbitrators are really overworked, so don't add to it. I'm not going to side with either of you because I don't have to. Suspend the ArbCom case and possibly the RfC. CoolKatt, stop claiming incivility, that just exasorbates the issue. CFIF, don't act sour about it ("Let's accuse me some more of something I don't do"), and maybe stay away from CootKatt other than make comments (no more userspace deletion nominations). Merging vs. deleting

That's not really what I meant. I think you should perhaps really have some of these pages deleted instead of just pasting them all together (it doesn't look very useful that way to me...). I will leave the issue open for another admin to decide. Kusma (討論) 01:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. While I had initially thought that having these subpages was harmless, did you know about this aspect? I still think it sucks to nominate someone's subpages for deletion, but there are some good reasons to delete (or re-shape) these. WCTX and WPHL-TV

edit

I am not vandalizing this article...repeat: I AM NOT VANDALISING THIS ARTICLE. Instead, you are (again) adding trivial information. Just because WCTX is imported into Springfield via cable, that doesn't automatically make the station part of the Springfield market. Heck, they don't even ID themselves as such. If you wish to continue to place this line in the article, keep it out of the main section.

While we're at it, WPHL-TV is NOT part of the Harrisburg-Lancaster market either, nor do they identify themselves as such. Just because it, too, is being imported via cable doesn't automatically mean it's one of the area's local stations -- do viewers in New York City claim WTBS or WGN-TV as one of their own? I didn't think so. Rollosmokes 17:50, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you please tell me why you insist on including the Seattle stations on Template:Van-Vic TV? Those aren't Vancouver stations. They are Seattle-Tacoma stations. They don't serve Vancouver. They hardly even mention Vancouver; KOMO has a temperature for Vancouver on its weather maps, and that's it. If people are that desperate to find out about the Seattle stations, they can just click on that link at the bottom to go to the Seattle template.

I'm not gonna bother you with the other templates (since, frankly, it's not worth my time), but since Vancouver's my home market, I figure I should at least have some say in it. - Hinto 20:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just that they're on cable in Van-Vic doesn't necessarily mean they serve Van-Vic. As I mentioned, the extent that KOMO "serves" Vancouver is including Vancouver's temperature on its maps; KING, KIRO, KCPQ, etc. don't even do that. And there's basically no mention of Van-Vic on Seattle stations (and vice versa) unless something big happens. If being on cable is the sole criterion for inclusion on the template, there's a whole bunch of other stations that could be included, but it'd be meaningless. - Hinto 20:26, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Blueboy96

edit

Coolkatt, you have made me laugh in your effort to stick up for Blueboy. This coming from someone who wastes precious space on Wikipedia with your "alternate history" pages on the Scripps-Howard television stations and of Louisville, largest city of the "Commonwealth of Whore". You can't seem to take constructive criticism when it comes to your edits, so you have the audacity to come at me? PUHLEEZZE!!

In my opinion, Blueboy's edits and additions have bordered on informative (which, when researched and written properly, are helpful) and sloppy (at times he has changed whole sentences, changing the entire continuity and context of paragraphs which someone else, such as myself, has had to clean up and revert). His contributions are as inconsistent as Alex Rodriguez's batting average with runners in scoring position. Blueboy needs to work on this and not be so sensitive. As for you, Coolkatt, you have no right to defend someone else when you are guilty of a whole lot worse. Most of us don't either, including myself. The difference between you and me is that I can accept and answer to criticism, and you can't.

BTW: I have read WP:OWN, and I believe that it applies more to you than to me. Rollosmokes 07:30, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blueboy's edits are very good. You need to stop reverting his edits Rollosmokes, again because that is violating WP:OWN as well as WP:STALK.

Number one, you obviously (again) did not read my comments directly above this one, which explains my position. Secondly, you didn't have the guts to place this comment on MY TALK PAGE, so you had to run to Blueboy's and post it there. That is, to put it mildly, a weak move on your part. And lastly, I have read WP:STALK, and just as before, this applies more to YOU than it does to me. You're acting like a little child now. This is ridiculous. Help again

edit

User:Rollosmokes has been bothering both me and User:Blueboy96 over the latter's edits to WTNH. I appreciate Blueboy's edits, but Rollosmokes keeps reverting them everytime I revert to Blueboy's version. It is clear to me that Rollosmokes is violating both WP:OWN and WP:STALK, especially the latter since he has reverted edits by Blueboy in the past. In addition, Rollosmokes has left rather rude comments in both my talk page and Blueboy's talk page over the matter: [6], [7], in my talk page he told me I acted like a little child. And here is a link to an edit he reverted: [8] I need your help, he is going too far with this whole thing. CoolKatt number 99999 18:34, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I recently was involved in a similar dispute with Rollosmokes, so I don't feel comfortable intervening in an administrative capacity. Please seek the assistance of another sysop. If you do, you're welcome cite this edit (in which Rollosmokes referred to me as "a self-absorbed, ego-driven, bombastic blowhard") as another example of his incivility. —David Levy 19:00, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rollosmokes speaks

edit

I will refer back to an earlier comment:

In my opinion, Blueboy's edits and additions have bordered on informative (which, when researched and written properly, are helpful) and sloppy (at times he has changed whole sentences, changing the entire continuity and context of paragraphs which someone else, such as myself, has had to clean up and revert). His contributions are as inconsistent as Alex Rodriguez's batting average with runners in scoring position. Blueboy needs to work on this and not be so sensitive.

This is not an condemnation on all of Blueboy96's contributions. In WTNH-TV, he changed the wording of several sentences which resulted in paragraphs becoming choppy in context. I simply re-wrote or reverted what he changed. For example, he will change single-digit numbers written in word form back to numerical form (eg. "eight" to "8"), which stylistically incorrect.

Coolkatt's problem with me stems from my deleting of his sentences containing what can be viewed as "trivial", such as his favorite "largest (network) station on the UHF dial" reference. I told him that notes such as this should be placed in a separate section within the article, not within the main section.

This is professional, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. Nothing more and nothing less. Coolkatt has made it personal, so I answered back.

If you're reading this, Mr. Levy, then I apologize for my "incivility" towards you, but at the time that is how I viewed you in regards to our dispute. Rollosmokes 06:42, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You wrote on my talk page: "You are going too far in labeling my edits as vandalism. Stop doing that, and I will also stop labeling your edits as vandalism." The truth is this: your edits ARE VANDALISM. You are adding nothing but trivial information, poorly-written sentences, and other useless junk into several articles. You also continue to go tit-for-tat with me on several articles which Blueboy96 and myself have worked extensively. You are reverting my work out of pure spite. That is childish. Like I've said, before you go after someone else, look at yourself in the mirror (before it cracks) and you'll see the REAL CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. Rollosmokes 08:46, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re:WTAE

edit

Who is we, the only person that has said as such is you, and your the only that incerted it into the article. SOrry to tell you but Wheeling has no ABC affilate, in the boundaries of it's DMA their is no station that servies as an ABC affilate, WTAE is not within those boundaries. The station beeing carried on cable aslo does not make it an affilate for wheeling either, it also can nopt be an affilate becuas it does not have must-carry status either, which means that echa cable company must sign a contract witth the station in order to carry it and are not required to carry it. Yor inclusing that it is caried on cable in another market makes it no more an affilate then when i lived in Lansing, Michigan, and i could get stations from both detroit and Grand Rapids on both cable and OTA, and none of them were Lansing affilates, including the WB and UPN which Lansig at the time did not have. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:34, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have been observing recent edits to this template, and am concerned that you could be breaking WP:OWN (I know we're talking about a template, but it likely still applies). Your recent addition of a comment-out saying to not remove Hartford stations (the inclusion of those stations seems to be disputed) indicates to me that you may be "owning" at aspect of the template. Please be careful in the future. --WCQuidditch 23:28, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:Susquehanna Valley TV

edit

Hey, could you take a look at the SV list on that templates' talk page? The station that seems to be under contention (WPHL-TV) is, in fact, significantly viewed in Lancaster County (but only this county) according to the FCC.

In my opinion, this justifies including this station in this market as a "Significantly Viewed Out-of-Market Station", since that is exactly what it is. As you can see from the list, there are also several other stations that could be included in this list. I wouldn't suggest over-doing it, though. :-) AlexDW 00:23, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you just let the discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television Stations play out? If you are so convinced your way is correct, explain clearly and concisely why, and you may influence consensus in your favor. Please don't impose your will on templates and articles while debate is ongoing, and definitely don't proceed to get into an edit war over it. Reverting exactly three times in 24 hours goes against the spirit of the three-revert rule. I'm getting exasperated with the both of you. Morgan Wick 02:27, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

One more thing. People don't have a problem with your subpages because you "want to dream" or anything like that. They have a problem because Wikipedia is not a free host, blog, webspace provider or social networking site. In other words, it's not the place to share your dreams with the world. There are places like that, but Wikipedia isn't one of them. (Personally, I'm neutral on the subpage issue.) Morgan Wick 02:34, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

WTXF-TV

edit

You insist on reverting to a version of this article that YOU edited, and quite poorly. Haven't you learned anything from your failed attempt to bully me? If there is anyone guilty of violating WP:OWN, it is you.

Your version contains a revised paragraph that contains a re-written sentence ("Fox later cancelled its preliminary deal to purchase WGBS and joined the bidding for WCAU in case New World's bid fell through, as New World and Fox looked towards getting Fox programming on a VHF station in America's 4th-largest market") that did not have to be changed; the mention of Fox Kids here is irrelevant and unnecessary; the link to WPSG did not have to be moved; and the link to WTVZ should be changed to TVX Broadcast Group directly, as there is now an article with that title.

I will re-revert to the version that is of better quality. Please do not change it back. Rollosmokes 09:12, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

PBS Arkansas???

edit

I've lived in Arkansas for 30 years now, and I can honestly say there is no difference in the programming offered on any of the five component stations of the Arkansas Educational Television Network (KETS, KEMV, KETG, KAFT & KTEJ). It's all simulcast from the same broadcast center (with local translators). Creation of a template for the station group — sufficiently grouped under the AETN article — really seems unnecessary, though I do see that it is in line with similar templates for other states. I can only really confidently comment on this particular template's validity. — ArkansasTraveler 15:24, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
