Caps for Province, District

Am I right that there is one thing everyone is agreed on now, use of capital P for Province, D for District? If so should confirm this into the draft naming conventions at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Vietnamese) (see Talk page also). In ictu oculi (talk) 07:55, 2 September 2013 (UTC) ‎

  • We should avoid unnecessary capitalisations. Where a place is officially referred to as 'District', then perhaps. If not, it should stay lower case, IMHO. -- Ohc ¡digame!¿que pasa? 08:09, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
I have no strong opinion either, I'm not sure what sources do (and would doubt they could be consistent), but I've amended the draft, based on article current reality, consistency, also seems to be per past discussion, so we'll see. Thanks. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:18, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

RE: Rich Girl

To be short, you don't own the article, and the pseudo-damages you are citing are just your opinion with no evidence the article is "being damaged". I don't know what you are expecting me to say, but whatever it is, it won't happen. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:56, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I have the tendency to own articles that aren't in my watchlist. Stop wasting my time, as I told you above, whatever you want me to do, that seems to be a "revert yourself", it won't happen and you can't obligate me to do so. Don't answer because I won't even care to answer you. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 15:58, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

RFC

Hi, I see your edits to Battle of Nui Le were reverted - in the copy, not title. I wonder if the Vietnamese geo names RFC will need to be reopened in regard to Vietnam War related articles or something? In ictu oculi (talk) 05:02, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

I decided not to battle over it. In this particular case, the only names I modified were of provinces, not names of battles, so the editor clearly just has a personal thing about diacritics - a separate RFC on war-related matters wouldn't change that. And an RFC on that subject would probably be more controversial than the last one. A case could be made that battle names are only known in English at all because of the American military and press, so they should be without diacritics on WP:COMMONNAME grounds. (The Vietnamese might well disagree of course; and there would be endless wrangling over whether the location given in the name of a battle should perhaps be without diacritics but a mention in the text of the location of the battle should include them.) Article titles for Vietnam War battles are currently a mix of with and without diacritics, with no obvious reasoning behind the choice. See, for example, {{Campaignbox Vietnam War}}. This is a tricky area I'd prefer to steer clear of for the time being, until the general use of Vietnamese diacritics for place names has had time to bed in. My inclination for the time being is to complete the process of making geographical articles consistently use diacritics, then to concentrate on reintroducing diacritics to historic personal names, dynasties etc. Colonies Chris (talk) 09:26, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
